Making the playoffs gives a team a sense of accomplishment regardless of their chances of advancing and it adds another playoff game to Romo's resume so I don't have to keep mentioning his season finale elimination games.

Keep lowering that bar, bro.

Another loss on Romo's playoff resume, we won the regular season finale, the players feel accomplished.

The new America's team. I am beaming with pride.

What's the benefit of winning a Super Bowl?

In the NFL you play to win your division, go to the playoffs and entertain your fans.
That's the reality of it.

And as bad as this defense was last week 'nothing' is yet off the table.

They surely aren't winning a Lombardi but even that's not done til you lose a playoff game assuming you get there.
And in this era of football some pretty mediocre teams have won playoff games.

This team isn't winning a title any time soon. If that's all you follow them for you should just quit now and save yourself the grief.

Yes, but none of those teams had a defense and a defensive scheme that was this inept as Dallas has.

Its still fun to root for your team in the playoffs, even though this team has no realistic shot at contending for a Super Bowl.

Having said that, you never know who could get hot and surprisingly make a run. Getting to the playoffs is all about giving fans hope, and thats all there really is to root for anyways.

Long term, for the team itself, going to the playoffs this year probably wouldn't be a good thing. It means another year of JG, a poor draft pick, and another offseason of hearing about how Tony can't win big games.

Actually the offseason is more exciting than the actual seasons anymore.

Speaking for myself, I think being stuck in a perpetual football version of Groundhog Day is a pretty overrated experience.

Ah, well, if I ever reach that point of capitulation, I might find myself agreeing with you. Fortunately for me, I still enjoy the actual football season.

Making the playoffs may add another loss to Romo's playoff resume but at least we can look back and say the team overcame some real adversity to make the playoffs. If the Cowboys make the playoffs they'll be doing it with one of the worst defenses in NFL history. They may end up being the worst defensive team to ever make the playoffs. The Saints went 7-9 last season with their historically bad defense so if the Cowboys can some how go 9-7 with what is currently the 4th worst defense all-time that would be an accomplishment.

The benefit is that the lower draft picks will cost us less against a salary cap that we're right up against.

Only one I can think of.

I don't understand why some people can't enjoy the game. I am thrilled I don't think like many of these guys, and beyond thrilled I would never have to count on some of them in a fight of any kind. Had I ever played with or been coached by someone as spineless as some of our fans come across I might have tried to injure them on purpose. I have no respect for cowardice, and sadly our fans are great at it.

Exactly right.

Eeking out a playoff appearance due solely to playing in the league's worst division would only give us more of Jerry, Stephen, and this status quo of perpetual mediocrity.

And that's certainly not worth showing up to get thumped by an actually deserving team in the playoffs.

Not by a long shot.

Yep.

Blame the fans.

And never the people who are actually responsible for it.

Honestly...and I can't believe I am saying this...no good comes from us making the playoffs. Why? because it will only validate to Jerry that what he is doing is working.

What's there to enjoy about this team? I have zero respect for people who blindly follow the team like you do and belittle others for not being true "fans." And stop with the "fights" and "injuring people." Please. You aren't fooling anyone with your bravado.

Well, I would argue that the NFC East isn't even the worst division in football, but the point remains that if Dallas gets in, its because everyone else sucks, not because they are particularly good.
