Holy crow, we've got some "special" fans. So if we win 2 more games than last year and make the playoffs for the first time in 4 years, Jerry may think we're improving. Really? Where would he get that idea?

This is ridiculous. There is always a benefit of making the playoffs at least that's what I hear all the time on here and everywhere about playoff wins. What happened to the all important playoff wins that everyone has been obsessing about for years. So are you telling me that doesn't matter unless you are competitive? You always want to make the playoffs because anything CAN happen. Do you think the Giants two years ago or the Packers 3 years ago or the Ravens last year would have rather not made the playoffs because they didn't think they were going to be competitive? That's what you play for to get into the playoffs and have a chance to go to the Super Bowl.

Only 1 team wins the Super Bowl so I guess those 11 other teams weren't competitive because they didn't win it. When you get in the playoffs you only focus on yourself and the team you are playing. Not your division or other teams you are battling in your conference to see where the are at. So yes it is beneficial to the playoffs. Give me a break with this ' there is no benefit if you can't be competitive'. That is some straight up bs.

Agreed. Their defense is as good or better than either team and Cam would give our DL fits.

What are the benefits? hmm.. .. I dunno.. but the negatives will far outweigh them.

    1. We get a back end of the draft pick(last 12 in the draft)

    2. We get a first place schedule next year.

    3. We maintain almost all of the coaching staff.

    4. We maintain all of our veterans and maybe over pay for players who aren't worth it.

Yeah, but our players will feel accomplished. And we get to add a playoff loss to Romo's resume in debates.

You need a digital scale to decide this one.

    No problem.

Yor stance often differs from my own, but you back up what you think and I can appreciate that.

    You bring it.

That said, we're just tired of it. Seen this act too many times before to believe in anything this bunch is selling.

And now, the onus is not on us as fans to believe, but for this bunch to give us reason to.

The burden is not with us, but with them.

    If we do.

    The Eagles don't.

    I'll take that.

I wouldn't worry about being "less a fan" than others. It is the great diversity of viewpoints shared in here by all types of fans that make the Zone so much fun.:)

    Exactly.

    That's the biggest, clearest detriment.

Is showing up to get clobbered in the playoffs by a team actually deserving of being there worth another year of this regime?

    Absolutely not.

I would rather lose and at least have the hope of improvement in the future.

And if some think I'm a 'bad fan' as a result, so be it.

I'm thinking bigger picture and long term.

If you think going 8-8 or 7-9 and missing the playoffs again is going to make Jerry change the way he runs the organization, consider this: The Cowboys have been 6-10, 8-8, and 8-8 over the past three years, and Jerry hasn't changed a damned thing.

They Cowboys might as well make the playoffs. If we're being honest with ourselves, we'll concede they're probably one and done, but at least they give themselves a chance.

Funny thing is, for all the people blaming the passing defense, the only game where we actually put our foot on the gear offensively was against Denver. This offense is just playing it conservative and safe and looks like a mess and absolutely none of our geniuses on offense ae sitting there thinking this teams needs to put up lots of points.

And here we are with Mr. Genius Jerry Jones saying Mr. Kiffin needs to turn up the heat to blitz, knowing that our offensive coaches won't pull any trigger if a mistake on defense is made. ALong with Garrett as well in his little "we did some good thins" speech.

This scape-goating has gotten ridiculous. Our offense couldn't convert a 3rd and long the whole season. We were among dead last and suddenly we are suppose to forget it, cause Kiffin is blowing chunks? Take away the TOs of Kiffin's defense, this offense wouldn't have anybody to scapegoat.

Making the playoffs is nothing more than a stay of execution for the losers on the coaching staff.

Wrong! After losing last year he fired Rob Ryan and switched the defense to this dumpster fire.

So we got that going for us...
