from wanting us to win today or being eliminated hoping it would be the final straw to fire the coaching staff?

my wife and i both want a real head coach and she is worried that winning today and possibly next sunday will secure garrett for another year.

i was excited we won today and was giddy as hell.

i tried to explain to her that it did not matter if we win or lose ...no change would be made regardless with our owner.

we might as well pull for the players and our team..

it's a weird dilemma to be in.

what's your take?

I hope none of us are wanting losses. Whether it's in the perceived long-term best interest or not. You don't make teams better by establishing a culture of surrender or of living to fight another day. And you don't not improve your HC position if you think there's a better candidate out there just because the guy you've got won the division last season. You just play hard all the time, and improve your team wherever and however you can.

if you think the only thing wrong is just changing out the HC...your in for few surprises along the way. But lets keep that for another day and enjoy this victory.

I think many people are torn. I am torn until the game starts then I just can't help it. I have to support my team.

I was speaking to an eagles fan friend during the game and expressing my desire for Jason G to go. He brought up a great point that I knew but didnt want to accept......... Its not fair to blame Garrett when Jerry Jones neutered him before he even took the job. Jerry has done this to every coach since Jimmy Johnson. He brings in a "head coach" who doesn't have enough power to be respected by the team. He hires the offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator ect. He doesn't allow his coaches the power they need to lead a group of men.

So what difference does it make if Garrett is here or not? Jerry Jones is the coach. He just has someone else to blame when it fails.

I think Garrett is a horrible coach and want him fired.

Having said that, the win today was awesome, I would take this win every day and twice on Sunday, you become the fan of a team for days like this. I loved it and I am all in for next week.

Jerry is not the one mismanaging the game or trying to call dumb timeouts.

It is a silver lining thing for me. I hope we win and make some noise and if Garrett stays because of that, so be it. If we lose and he is fired, that is my silver lining. I would rather win and enjoy some playoffs but all is not lost if we lose IMO.

Without beating it do death, I think this could be Dallas' last shot at a playoff in a long time. Key players are getting older, and I don't see world beaters coming to replace them anytime soon. Replacing what Ware, Spencer, and Ratliff *used* to bring back when Dallas was a legit playoff team will be very hard as every team is looking for pass rushers and many strike out. Get ready for some Kakiva Pittman's and Shante Carver's along the way. Even with a top front office, It would take multiple drafts to re-stock the pass rush. Then you have to develop the players. Dallas has been fortunate to have Romo available for every game, but as he ages that will become less likely if he continues to take as many hits as he takes. His arm strength--never tremendous to begin with--could become more of an issue. Witten is still good, but he will decline. I think they're in that late-90's stage where you should enjoy whatever success they get because there may be a while before you see it again. I certainly think they'll need a lot of luck personnel-wise to get to the playoffs again next season.

You obviously missed the point entirely.

I want Garrett gone. However, I don't see how it matters when the next coach will be a puppet coach who is willing to be called coach while Jerry Jones acts as coach. Gruden, Cowher are not coming here.

But it does matter on gameday, you are right about Jerry but JG is absolutely terrible on the field and I think it should not be hard to get an upgrade. That has to be worth at least 2 wins a year.

No, he is responsible for hiring the one mismanaging the game and trying to call dumb timeouts.

Exactly. Garrett isnt even our coach. Sure they call him that. Jerry stripped him of playcalling duties, hired Callahan, hired Ryan and then Kiffin. Jason Garrett isn't getting it done. Let's not be stupid and act like we have a head coach. We have a guy they call head coach. Not a player on that roster sees him as the head coach the way they need to.

This won't change because Jerry wants to be a coach but doesn't want the public ridicule he would get for naming himself the coach.

I envy you buddy. I take little solace or joy from Cowboy wins these days. I remember the nineties era too vividly I guess. Sure they won today, but an honest assessment in cold hard reality puts paid to the fact that once again this team skates by a team with a wretched [losing] record and more apparent dysfunction than Dallas itself.

It was a good game for the fact that Romo prevailed in the midst of a made-to-order plate of flop. He put his detractors in the doghouse of silence for at least another week, before the cackle of the mediot chorus will reach a crescendo, in the rabid attempt to write either his seasonal "choke" obituary or a grudging backhand compliment.

This season is no longer about anything beyond winning the division, it has devolved into an attempt to simply save Garrett from pitch-black oblivion. Just my opinion...YMMV.

Exactly..................I feel the same way................this win was totally awesome...............and yes, Garrett is still an incompetent idiot that has botched at least 3 games this year.

There's businessman Jerry, family man Jerry, dancin man Jerry, celebrity Jerry, drunk Jerry and now corny Jerry?

I'm convinced we can't win with Garrett's game management and offensive scheme. So trust me won't shed a year if we lose and it ends his run with the Cowboys.

If we do win it would be Garrett's first meaningful win. So guess that's something but unless he is replacing his scheme don't want to see his face on our sideline ever again.

Torn. Yesterday Cowboys beat a bad team in disarray, with a backup QB. But, it's winning and that's positive. The ugly truth is, Garrett is not NFL Head Coach material, never will be. I tend to agree with a number of fans here who say the Cowboys are dysfunctional with the current owner/GM set up, and it doesnt matter who is on the sidelines wearing the headset in that structure. The Jones family should probably rethink it's toxic obsession with the NFL.
