The Saints defense was a turnover machine....and btw, Romo is not Brees.

The Giants defense becamedominant in the Giants SB run and Eli played amazingly well for, uh, Eli.

Anyway, compared to dallas' group this year, those two defenses were all-world by the time they made it to the playoffs.

Bottomline is Dallas did blow a great opportunity in 2007. So did the Pats that year.
The Giants can brag about one thing. They certainly have New England's number in Super Bowl matchups.

The 18-1 Patriots are one of the biggest NFL shockers of all-time, but not for me personally. For twenty years, I've been saying the NFL will never enjoy witnessing another undefeated season by one of its franchises under the post-1993 cba mandated system. New England almost broke my prediction. They took it to the limit, but it still stands.

The Romo Hate post to end all Romo Hate posts.

A swing...and a miss, Casey.

ufcrules will miss most of the posts that don't agree with him. If you don't agree with ufcrules he puts you on ignore like a child does when he cannot get the toy he wants...so no use to really respond to his childlike hate.

2009 Saint's defense ranked 24th defensively by yardage, and 19th by points. Bottom half in both categories. Yet, somehow Brees won a Superbowl.

2011 Giants defense ranked 26th defensively by yardage, and 24th by points. Bottom half in both categories. Yet somehow Manning (no, I don't consider Manning an elite) won a superbowl.

It sure helps to have a good defense to have playoff success, but it sure isn't required.
For the 2009 Saints, check the defensive pass rating.

For the 2011 Giants, check rushing TD (and compare it to Eli's red zone rating that year).

Rodgers looked terrible , and he blew it last year too and he blew it vs the cardinals . Ratings are just numbers right ? That's what they say with romo . Rodgers choked yesterday

If by "blew it" you mean "exited the playoffs without a Superbowl victory" you are dead-on.

Clearly 11 QBs blow it every NFL playoffs and therefore by your analysis are choke artists.

How nice it must be for you to see the world in such black and white.

I got it Percy. You can't win a Superbowl with a bad defense except for exceptions A and B and qualifier C.

I <do>, however, acknowledge your well made point that teams with bad defenses can win Superbowls but they usually have some positive attribute (good pass rush, above average QB rating, etc) to hang their hat on.

Is Dalton the new Romo. Sure got kicked around last night on the nfl network.

Is that a question? Puncuation.

Dalton has one of the most complete teams in the league around him. Great defense, solid run game, Pro Bowl receiver. He just sucks. Romo doesn't sail passes 20 yards over receivers heads and I know I will never hear anybody say Dalton carries that team.

By blew it I mean didn't show up at all 170 yards at home ? Getting out passed by a running qb ? Embarrassing . This guy is far from the best qb in the game and it isn't even close .

So, in other words, he has ignored the entire site save for Clove and Natural. Must be pretty boring.

Did you watch the Packers game by any chance? He overthrew a wide open Dez, and under threw him 3 freaking times when he was open way down the field. Romo and Dalton both suck and will never be able to lead their teams to super bowls.

Uh, were you here in the post Aikman years? If they didn't win the lottery with Payton finding a UDFA Romo we would still be trotting ex-baseball players out there.

Newflash - Jerry doesn't believe in mortgaging very high level picks in QBs. He thinks the bust rate is too high and the amount of years and $$ you spend figuring out that your high profile draft pick is in fact a bust is not worth it. He would rather gamble on the Quincy's and Henson's of the world because it doesn't cost as much if you are wrong.

Whatever I think of Tony Romo, I have ZERO reason to believe Jerry is going to win that lottery again any time soon.

Clinging to Romo is not going to change the fact that he will have to be replaced sooner or later. Jerry may screw it up, but at some point Romo will be gone and a new QB will be starting. It may be sooner depending on Romo's back injury. I will be glad to move on and get past Romo, Witten, Ware and Austin. These guys are declining and their play is not going to be worth their cap hit. I was for blowing the team up before the Romo contract extension. That would have been the perfect time to start rebuilding and fix the salary cap issues.

I'm totally serious! I have seen him put so many posters on ignore it's a wonder why he is even here. But, if you want to be his BFF....just post "Romo sucks!" He will immediately fall in love with you. lol

Look Romosexuals, I used to be just like you guys. If the search function on this site was actually worth a damn I'd show you and prove to you. I defended Romo, I thought he was the guy. Romo as I was a fan of died in week 17 against Washington when he tossed that pick. That was the last straw for me. We're never going to win a championship with him as QB, you can take that to the bank.

So, just why are you here? Because as of now, Romo is not going anywhere soon. smh

It's simple. Pass offense by itself isn't enough.

honestly i do respect and appreciate that you actually try to answer rather than just ignore it and continue on the agenda.

i do think it is required to have good D to have playoff success. if you look at the def qb ratings from all sb champs since 2000, their avg. is 70. lower than romos best by 5 pts and his 2nd best by 13 pts.

this isnt just random, the teams who's D steps up have been winning the superbowls. ask the huge offenses from new england 16-0 or green bay 15-1 or all of peytons 12+ win seasons if a good defense is required to have playoff success. ifs its NOT required, then it is quite the coincidence that the last 13 sb champs have had basically better def qb ratings than tony has ever had as a starter.

yes 2009 saints had one of the top def qb rating (68.6) in the league which correlates more to winning than yards & pts from what i understand. romo was 13-3 with a 75 def. qb rating and his 2nd best def. qb ratings? 15pts more than the 2009 saints. so that year their pass d was better than any pass d romo has ever had.

both sb years for the giants, their D never gave up over 20pts in the playoffs and had 7 takeaways in each.

Come on Dragon.. you know you are tempted by the truth. You can join Natural, Catch17, Revolution, and many others who were swayed by the truth in the last year.
