This is why you wont do anything to a large degree with the Cowboys Jerry Jones, because your the general manager, you don't let the head coach choose their own coaches but you do. Got report supposedly that you Jerry Jones axed Norv Turner coming into Dallas, while Jason Garrett wanted Norv, but you axed the deal Jerry, Ed Werder supposedly just said so in a report, now its on you Jerry Jones.

Jerry does not want to pay new coaches to be on garrett's staff while he pays the guys they would replace also...

this is a money issue. Jerry probably knows he is going to have to fire garrett and then in turn the whole staff so it seems he is making the whole staff ride it out together.

We already hit the iceberg....just filling the boats at the moment.

and fwiw I support not bringing turner here. Time for a new fresh set of coaches with a background of succeeding currently in the league not chasing people who did stuff here years ago.

unless they wanted Holmgren. then I am all in for Holmgren.
 
Jerry has never let a coach pick his own staff....why would he do that now? Even Bill Cowher pointed this out a few weeks ago. Jerry wants/has total control of every aspect of what happens on this team.
 
I like Norv but i agree in not bringing him to Dallas. If JG fails in 2014 i'd love to see David shaw
 
i actually agree w jerrys philosophy here...ideally i would have liked for him to have cleaned house this season...but to hire new assistant coaches this offseason isnt smart...

should have just cleaned house - you old moron

Its a money issue.

Jerry does not want to pay both Callahan and turner. So he is just paying Callahan.

Broaddus said it again today on talking cowboys, if something were to happen with kiffen Matt Eberflus would be the Defensive coordinator. They are not going to bring outside guys in at this point to be on garretts staff.

Btw, I would support eberflus. I like him and think he is the type of guy that will succeed. More importantly though its kind of sad how we are just going to run the same group out there A. Because of money...who has more money in this league? and B. because they basically know what is going to happen this season.

The 103.3 guys (Fitzsimmons primarily) have been talking about this all morning. In fact, they're the ones who asked Werder about it -- Werder didn't introduce it.

They said they talked to very good people in the know, people who have been very reliable sources in the past, and it was what Joe said, that Jerry didn't want Norv.

However, as Friedman pointed out, we don't know that Norv even really wanted to come here -- they just said he was open to the idea. Last year Galloway, who is Norv's drinking buddy, said Norv didn't want to come here because he didn't want the circus.

As Friedman also pointed out, it's more likely what theebs said, a money issue. Jerry doesn't want to give Norv a multi-year contract like he could (and later did) get when Jerry may be cleaning house less than a year from now.

If that's true, then there's some great news from this: That Garrett really is on his last leg. Produce or hit the bricks.
 
It's going to be a tough year for a lot of wishful cowboys fans who think we are " one play" or "one player in the draft ot FA" away from being great.....


Our schedule alone is brutal. And Romo , ware, and witten will be another year older...

Foles looks like the real deal.....for years to come.....

Who knows about the skins and giants......u gotta figure the giants will make some kind of comeback.....?

The cowboys will implode next year.......and it's not going to be pretty........Romo may not survive as a Dallas Cowboy....

I had almost forgotten Holmgren...I recall he and Jerry being chums, but he totally slipped my mind.

This is such a fantastic post I posted just to quote it.
 
at first glance I was thinking that is nuts of Jerry to stop that, but after reading some replies, I kinda agree with the philosophy of Jerry to not hire new assistants because then we might have new excuses next year if our offense poops out and then he wont fire Jason again. This way without new assistants, he can blame all and start clean with new headcoach etc....

Is not a lame duck season. It's a produce or die season. Garrett will get his extension if the team gets better.

Jason Garrett is officially walking the tightrope without a new over Niagra Falls. Either he gets the team across and getsd an extension, or he gets very, very, very wet.
 
IF we don't get a new Defensive Coordinator I'm going to throw a fit....I think we get one though.
