Either way, things are looking good for Jason Garrett getting bounced. Hopefully, Jerry is just trying to save money until he effectively cans his biggest disaster as an owner.

Next year. There's always next year......

I want Garrett gone but if he's going to be here then he should be able to pick his staff. The object is to win or it should be. It's stupid to keep everything the way it is for another year. It's just another wasted year.

I agree Garrett should be able to pick his staff. Jerry hired the guy to do the job.....yet Jerry has undermined everything Garrett has ever wanted to do from almost day one. I thought after the whole "who is gonna call plays" fiasco and Garrett lost that battle...his days were numbered. It's comical to see who can out snake who in this Jones/Garrett relationship. I don't think there is a lot of trust there. And that's a problem. If Jerry is gonna continue to neuter Garrett @ every turn then what is the point of carrying out this game of charades? Get on w/ the house cleaning instead of wasting time!!!!!

I agree. Everyone knows that next year is going to be a train wreck. I don't know why we have to wait.

This is why you wont do anything to a large degree with the Cowboys Jerry Jones, because your the general manager, you don't let the head coach choose their own coaches but you do. Got report supposedly that you Jerry Jones axed Norv Turner coming into Dallas, while Jason Garrett wanted Norv, but you axed the deal Jerry, Ed Werder supposedly just said so in a report, now its on you Jerry Jones.

can you put your last sentence first so I know to stop reading then please? Thanks.

I think this is about Jerral Wayne Jones' Ego... He doesn't want any more remnants of Jimmy's staff here in case he wins a Superbowl. He wants to say HE did it without Jimmy.

Who cares about that old fossil Norv? Is the offense really the problem? It scored 48 points in a LOSS.

Jones is known for largesse and not miserly behavior.

You just think he is.

Have you never heard him describe how "painful" it was to sign Rivera, Ferguson and Henry back in 2005?

When it comes to spending on the football team, his "big splashes" in free agency are relatively few and far between.

He also hates to fire coaches. There is a reason practically every coach has inherited members of the staff, often at his insistence.

What if Norv didn't want to come to Dallas? What if the interest wasn't mutual. Just saying. I know it's crazy but the luster is gone off this organization.

Pay close attention joe.

Jerry does not want to pay new coaches to be on garrett's staff while he pays the guys they would replace also...

this is a money issue. Jerry probably knows he is going to have to fire garrett and then in turn the whole staff so it seems he is making the whole staff ride it out together.

We already hit the iceberg....just filling the boats at the moment.

and fwiw I support not bringing turner here. Time for a new fresh set of coaches with a background of succeeding currently in the league not chasing people who did stuff here years ago.

unless they wanted Holmgren. then I am all in for Holmgren.

What makes me so upset is the mount of money the Cowboys made off of their brand name.

Paying off a few coaches should be a non issue with the kind of money they pulled in.

Never figured that one out either. Paid Deion, Aikman, and Novachek for years after they weren't even here. Add in revenues from his stadium outside of cowboys, final 4, national championship, etc. and the dude is banking it, but he wouldn't want to fire some lousy coaches and pay them.

It's all for the entertainment in Dallas. What a circus and mess of an organization. Thanks Jerry for ruining it.

Few and far between is a relative notion. Free agency splashes are not exactly common in the NFL. While a particular year might not bring in a Brandon Carr, he is normally active in March FA.

The thing is that I see a whole lot of empirical evidence of his willingness to spend money. He has paid a lot of money to guys over the years. Aikman, Sanders, Glover, Parcells, and recently Marinelli who was the top paid position coach in the league. More specifically, he shows a willingness to spend money when he thinks it will help him win.

I have also seen counter evidence to the notion that he won't spend when those such as yourself claim that he is strapped for cash when he offered Asoumugha all that cash.

What I have not seen is are example of him being cheap when it was not the salary cap holding him back. In fact, all I see is unsubstantiated message board claptrap. I do not believe things unless I have a reason to believe them. Him complaining about money that he has already spent does not count as evidence that he won't spend money.

Werder is trying to create headlines again. There is no way Jerry would've kept Garrett from going after Turner, I don't care how people feel about Jones.

Yea that actually makes no sense. Why wouldn't Jerry be for Norv coming here? What would be his reasoning?

Not sure how true this story is. That said I can't believe so many people are defending Jerry. I'm not a huge Turner fan, but if Garrett wanted to hire him then you let him. If you are on the fence about firing Garrett then just do it. Otherwise, let him bring in the guys he wants and do everything you can to help him succeed.

Next season with a lame duck coach and coordinators that he doesn't want? Great! Can't wait.

Hiring new coordinators doesn't change his lame duck status. Which is probably why Jones didn't let him.

Norv should have been the HC Hire in the 1st place at least he can call the plays.

Besides Turner has the new recipe for the secret sauce from same out dated system in Garrett and Jerrys **********.
