Because is he isn't, DeMarcus Ware gets 10 sacks a season in his sleep. Check his stats.

Ok, that doesn't even make sense. Where did I say he was done? I just don't see him getting multiple double digit sack seasons in the future.

Ware to explore options and a return is NOT out of the question.

No
Best business would have been to make him stay with a paycut
You do that by telling him you will designate him a June 1 cut when FA dollars have dried up or he can take a cig now and stay

The joneses are idiots

Not exactly.. This gives the team money to spend now on a replacement, not wait til June

While he gets sacks, how many screens and runs go right past him? Enough to easily negate his sacks. I hope he does go to somewhere in the East. Attack him all game.

Sucks but anyone who doesn't think this signifies a significant change in the way we approach contracts is delusional.

It was a necessary evil, and I wish Ware the best.

All this did was guarantee we have a top 5 pick next year in the draft. All this was unnecessary. This is a result of the unbelievable deal given to Romo last year. That Romo deal is gonna cripple this franchise for years. I said it last year and I stick by that statement.

Charlie Casserly just said on NFL Network he believes Ware will be back with Dallas. I hope not. Unless its a very friendly deal for the team.

To me this shows the organization is maturing finally and understanding when to cut bait on a player.

Ware for all his immense talent is on the downside, good luck to him but the organization just announced they are no longer in the business of coddling there vets.

It was an excellent move to cut Ware who is aging and on the downside of his career. Very glad they got rid of him... now I hope the same happens with Hatcher and Spencer.

So let me get this straight. The GM changed the defensive scheme from a 3-4 to a 4-3 after sinking tons on money on a OLB, a press CB and trading picks to get another press CB. Only to rebuild with a scheme that doesn't need any of that? Thank God I got to enjoy the early 90s because this looks like a train wreck that keeps on sliding down the mountain. Never to stop.

The transition clearly lacked solid planning

So, what should have been done?

This was the right move. Ask yourself, what GM is going to pay 12 mil to Ware in the open market? I hope we can bring him back at a reduced price. I that's not the case, he'll be missed.

Just hear me out on this.

We sign Revis if he's available. Draft Gilbert. Then instead of fielding DEs, we go with extra CBs and run a ton of CB blitzes.

We phase out the DE position and cross our fingers that Revis, Carr, Claiborne, Gilbert, Scandrick, a mid round draft pick or two and Webb is enough depth until we can add more next year.

You down?

Oh ah ah ah ah.

It sounds like no counter-offer was made by Ware, just the restructure option, so that tells me he wants to go play somewhere else. He's done here.

Right, because Ware was so awesome for us the last couple of years right? He was such a dominating force. Please.. it was time to get rid of him. You are very wrong about Ware and very right about your opinion on Romo. We have to stop over paying guys because of their names. When they start noticeably declining, you don't keep them around unless you absolutely have too.

If he's not done, he'll get at least two more double digit sacks seasons easily. That's what I'm saying. His entire career proves it.

By definition, it would have to be. With Jared Allen on the market also, Ware may not get the money he wants.
