Manziel is probably atop many draft boards. If he falls to 16, he'll be a Dallas Cowboy. You can book that.

When Jones talked about him a few weeks ago, he marveled that he could give up his entire draft and still not get up high enough to get him. If he drops into his lap, I would not be surprised if he sprinted to the podium himself.

Romo goes down long term it won't matter who our backup is.

This season it won't, but if that did happen, Manziel would possibly be quite the pick at 16 for the future. I'll be the first to say it's a toss-up if he turns into a franchise QB, but if he did, we could recover from a Romo long-term injury a lot easier.

It's happening. Get on board....

For me this is a HUGE tell... I basically see jj wanting Aikmans green light... not from an ability stand point but from personality/off the field stand point (Aikman does have some knowledge on the subject)

2 topics that seem to get under my skin. Tony's weight and Manziel as Dallas QB.

Cant. Wait. Till. Its. Over.

Unfortunately I don't have faith in Jerry and coaching staff to bring Manziel to fruition if that is in fact his destiny. I think we alter destiny... As we have done before.

There is no greater position of need for a championship level NFL franchise than having a young, promising, talented QB.

Perhaps, but that ain't us.

Dallas currently has one (possibly two) starting caliber defensive linemen on the roster. Unlike Green Bay when they took Rodgers, we don't have the luxury of using a high pick on a developmental QB. We need guys who can contribute now.

Given Romo's age, health concerns, & physical limitations due the attrition of playing QB, if Bridgewater, Manziel, or Bortles are available at 16, Jerry would be wise to select one of those players.

The wise thing to do is to address the gaping holes on the d-line and/or the secondary. Anything else would be folly.

This team is not going to win now, so I see no problem with drafting the QB if the future. A couple DL rookies are not gonna come in and make much difference in the first year. If a top QB drops , they had better draft him. In s couple of years, they will need him. IMO the coming draft is not gonna solve the defensive problems . It will take two or three drafts to do that.

Manziel or another top QB draftee selection = Romo currently having a career threatening back condition. Everyone will know the answer if Jones pulls the trigger in the first three rounds.

I wouldn't mind him here. Not worth it to move and get him though.

Well, also consider that Jerry has spent 2 (TWO!) draft picks during his entire time as Cowboys owner/GM (Carter and McGee).

It's almost as if he is afraid of rebuilding, instead he goes out and gets guys like Testaverde, Bledsoe, etc. He tried to recreate the Rams success with Galloway and Ismail, so Jerry is always in a "win now" mentality.

Drafting Manziel doesn't seem to fit that philosophy, although I wouldn't be totally against it.

I agree with you but cutting Ware could be a sign of change. A sign of rebuilding. I don't see anyone out there with high expectations for the Cowboys this coming year. Everyone knows we are trying to rebuilding. So I think anything is possibly in this draft and I know Jerry and sons love Manziel.

I personally hope we go and get him. I think the kid is a winner.

Ware and Hatchers release was a sign of rebuilding the defense. I don't think Dallas is looking to gut the offense outside of Austin.
