clearly you didnt watch the Cowbos in 2007 and 2009.

In 2009 Dallas had the #2 offense in the nfl and the #9 defense in the nfl. They were even the 7th ranked rushing team in the NFL. People simply put blame on Jerry Jones because its convenient. He's made mistakes yes, but to say he has not given this team a chance at a winner is downright stupid.

Yeah LT
I agree 2007 was a missed opportunity. That was it though. The 2009 team--especially after Flo went down--were going nowhere. Certainly no team since then. And Dallas did go 13-3 in 'o 07, win the division, and lose a second round very close game to the eventual SB champ. Missed opportunity but not miserable fail.

If they were like so e of the better franchises, they would have multiple shots. Weal know attune very top it echo es a crapshoot. Only one team can win and there is no best of 7 or even 3 in the NFL.
This is how a team likeBaltimore won. You give a team multiple chances with a good all around team and maybe you get on a roll (and some luck) and you pull one out.

I do agree that Romo's injuries to his back makes it impossible to carry the team on his back anymore. This means that he now needs a team help win games and play in the playoffs.

And really, 3 of the last 4 Super Bowl winning QBs fall into that category. Most (or-all) need the defense to really be playing strong in that playoff run. Usually a great run game is huge too.

I do think he was a defensive leader but since he saw sidelined much of the last 2 seasons, it didn't really help. Hard to be a leader as a player when you are not on the field with your peers.

Offensively, I'm not seeing any leaders. Romo is not like a Brady. I don't see his group following him. Dez will never be a leader. Hopefully someone can step up on our young OL.

As I said before, it so difficult to say one way or another, when you aren't actually a member of the team. Many people, for instance, take Romo's public persona as an indication that he is not a leader when at the end of the day you have to understand there is a difference in who he is to us and who he is to his team. As the QB for the Dallas Cowboys especially, he cannot be himself to the media...he has been destroyed for that on one too many occasions. So now he just goes with the usual boring company line, "It's a process," "stack good days on good days," etc. It's hard to look at the persona and think to yourself, here is a leader of men. But his actions on the field tell a different story, particularly, coming back in the game with a cracked rib and punctured lung to win against the 49ers a few years back, along with the other handful of stories where Romo has proved his toughness to his teammates and the world. It wasn't just about proving his toughness...he was sending a message...and he was standing by it. In my mind, that's a leader, but again, because I'm not on the team, it is really tough argue either way.

Awesome....so show me a stat where those Int's prevented any of those QB's from making the playoffs, and how many prevented them from winning Rings, those other 3 guys do have rings right? Or am I going crazy?

Oh ok

And, for anybody interested, right here is the point where criticism always necessarily shifts from personal performance to team accomplishments. As it must.

the vast majority of people will blame what the media tells them to blame.

thinking deep into a singular topic, i'm sure they do. but most won't practice it in things they get emotional about, just their own things they hold close.

if you blame romo for this teams lack of success, to me, you're a casual fan wearing a foam finger and mad you paid $8 for a miller light. so you spend your time angry at overpriced beer and a foam finger you can't give away and follow the least common denominator about how to criticize.

anything.

our lack of success is a lack of a team. not an individual. you can put that blame on jones, romo, ware, favorite target inserted here...

or you can just realize greatness isn't that easy.

In the Saints game he had one that should of ended the game. But Sean Payton had terrible game management and gave the ball back to Brady. But it was a horrible pick nevertheless.

I understand that. But you have to be fair and say the same things for whoever you are defending (in this case, Romo).

Romo had a terrible pick in the Vikings game but our defense got a 3 and out and gave him his 21st game winning drive. I will say that Romo is unfairly criticized in this regard as people would say "Oh he's lucky, because the defense gave him another chance" whereas someone like Brady getting ample opportunities is somehow completely disregarded.

It's really all about agendas...

Well it obviously rubbed you the wrong way. If you truly wanted to ignore it, you would of. Not try to sneak your way into the convo by piggy backing off of somebody else's comments.

It just proves you read it all last night, and felt that burn, you were mad, and wanted to say something so bad, but didn't want to look sensitive so his post is your loop hole. Don't be salty, just grab some tissues and let it all out in the bathroom. Don't cry on here

We don't have a true leader. And that's one of the issues.

Dez is growing into that. Hell he might be our only leader. Problem is we already have too many guys use to losing, we got rid of 2 of them this year so lets hope the others can shake that attitude

I suppose that is a fair argument...he certainly owns his share of the blame. The problem is there are not too many QB's out there that give the Cowboys a better chance to win..and you certainly cannot expect a rookie to come in and improve on what we have in Romo. It's quite the quandry. I for one wouldn't be all that disappointed if the Cowboys decided to move on and start developing a new QB...I'd accept the growing pains inherent with that move...horrible cap implications aside. But, as I said before, and the OP mentioned, it's ridiculous to put the blame on Romo for not winning a Championship, when the Cowboys have had so many other issues that I would rate well above Romo's negative impact.

I would be ridiculous to put all the blame on Romo for not winning a championship but he sure has hell hasn't done his part to get them to a championship either. With regards to a rookie coming in, I would say it is very possible for a rookie to play good enough for our team to get to at least 8-8 it has achieved the last 3 years. Last year we only beat teams with a record below .500. I think with the receiving core and offensive weapons this team has, a rookie could get to the same ole 8-8 Romo has...and for way less money too! Think if we had that extra money to spend in FA too. We could really strengthen the team. RG3, Luck, Foles, Dalton, Wilson, Kap, Cam, and others have done just fine. Some on good teams and some on average teams. It is not impossible to find a rookie QB who can play good enough for our team to succeed.

Amen to that. We need to get rid of the rest of the losers so we can have a complete culture change. We need more players like Dez and Murray who play with fire and desperately want to win at all costs vs the players that just accept they are not going anywhere and are there to collect their checks. These same players tell the media.."We have to keep improving, while they still make the same mistakes that they been making since joining the league.

I'm not so sure about that. The problem with assuming the Cowboys could duplicate the situations RG3, Luck, Foles, Dalton, Kap and Cam fell into is those were different situations, with different teams and different coaches. I just don't have your confidence that a rookie QB would step in and improve on Romo's production. Also, keep in mind, Luck, RG3 and Cam were drafted to teams who had high draft picks (1st, 2nd and 1st overall respectively), and as low as my expectations are for 2014, I still say they win, at least, 7 games, if not more this year. Kap and Dalton have the benefit of playing on teams with great defenses, so clearly they have a lot of help on that side of the ball; Romo does not.

LOL ok clearly you didnt watch the Giants game. Romo was sacked once. Manning threw for 163 yrds. That game was what all NFC east games usually are. Ugly and a fight.

LMAO, Are you talking about the playoff loss to the giants in '07? I did watch it and every other game since about 1975 smells. Romo was sacked twice in the 4th quarter that ended two drives in that game and Crayton dropped the winning TD pass. Romo was harassed the whole game had zero time to throw.

We are going to miss good QB play. Because you are not guaranteed to have that after he is gone and that is why.

When Aikman retired we had some pretty bad QBs to watch and having to go through with that again is a real possibility.

Again Romo has done his part to be successful and he can't do it by himself.

But I wouldn't say I missed Aikman. He served his time and moved on. So did the team. But maybe that's just my approach to things. I always took next steps/stages in life rather calmly.
