I didn't say Green was some special player at all. Not remotely. I just said he may be better than some think--which should be easy, given the zero expectations.
If he can make the team...IF...then he quite possibly will have done better than what Bass may have done.

Darrel Revis and Logan Ryan were ahead of him on the depth chart.

Yeah the Cowboys have done well scouting other teams players in the past. I think its McClay's doing so for them to just pick up Justin Green...I don't think it was just to make a trade. And I believe the Pats have good enough scouts to also understand that probably Bass is a better fit for the defense than Green who probably wouldn't have gotten on the field in their deep secondary. I'm gonna hold off on just assuming we're trading for a camp casualty.

It seems like a trade of camp bodies with potential at areas the teams need right now. I wouldn't be surprised if neither of these guys break camp with the teams. I'd guess that Bass probably has a better shot of that then Green, mostly because I think the Cowboys are going to be hurting for roster spots.

The jokes certainly implied that you felt people were thinking he was going to be a superstar.

And the question still stands...would the team be better off with a player like Ben Bass that was going to actually make the team while it had a D-Line of Ratliff, Hatcher, Spencer and Ware....or would they be just as good with somebody like Drake Nevis who only made the team because of we had burned thru so many players due to injury?

I have been critical of the organization, Garret and Woicik when it comes to injuries. But, a healthy Ben Bass last year was a far better player than the ham-and-eggers they had last year.

I was taken aback by this move not because I felt Bass would be a Pro Bowl caliber player but given the issues on DL I would have thought they would have kept him. Losing Scandric plays a part in this but it would also lead me to believe that they are losing faith or lost faith in Webb

The problem along the DL is that we've got an abundance of guys who can play at that can-give-you-some-snaps level, and not enough people any better than that. If the goal were to have a dozen passable players, we'd be ok. What we need is 4-5 who are better than passable. Better than passable and not in the tub all camp.

I think we also weren't comfortable not having a legitimate slot-backup for 4 weeks to start the season. Maybe somebody who's been to camp can provide insight into how Patmon/Mitchell have looked in that role, if they've gotten time there. I already know what we should expect from Webb in the slot.

Not saying it will happen but somtimes lingering injuries are more mental esp when theres no leadership around to motivate a player to get better faster. Ratliff case in point. If anyone will get anything out of Bass it will be the pats.

Assuming? Hilarious. I would say its safe to assume or admit (in your case) the pats have significantly better leadership than we do.
Some effective coaches/organizations get a lot more out of their players than others. Not sure if you have played sports and no offense if you haven't. Just sayin.

Jerry Jones is getting what he needs to keep Garrett even longer.

They're likely putting Gardner on IR now too so that D-Line will just become even more thin.

At this point you're probably going to have to worry about a stiff breeze knowing the Cowboys D-line back 5 yards.

I didn't suggest that the Pats aren't a better run organization. I said you're statement assumes that the Cowboys lacked leadership and that that was an issue in motivating Ben Bass to stay healthy, of all things. Which I consider ridiculous.

Bass was stashed on IR last season because he was too injured to come back soon enough to be worth saving a roster spot for, and not actually injured enough to need to be on IR. If he were a better player, we'd have likely waited for him. If he were worse, we'd have released him. It had nothing to do with it being comfy in the training room or whatever fantasies you might or might not have about coaches yelling at players with soft tissue injuries to make them heal faster.
