Hope is not a strategy

Marinelli's "waves" strategy is not feasible. Cowboys barely have enough healthy DL for ONE wave, let alone plural.

Cowboys need to make a trade for a blue chip player, or two or THREE, on D. With Lee injured again, and Ware gone, the D has no foundational players. Rolando was a blue chip player and a savvy acquisition but he is not a foundational player, yet. Not only do we have to wait and see if he is physically ready to play, but there are mental concerns as well.

But the most frustrating situation is all of the injured/unavailable players that Jerry and Co. have pinned their season on. Some of these players are coming of injuries that take longer to return to 100% than just an offseason. Spencer and Melton may be able to play after 3-5 games into the season, but at what level?? Better to let them heal properly on IR or PUP and bring in players who can actually contribute in the first quarter of the season. Cowboys are just asking for an increase in injuries for the players who will have to work twice as hard because the rotation will be limited with injured/unavailable players taking roster spots. Demarcus Lawrence also falls into this category. Why hurry a young inexperienced player who may not be 100% into a situation where the game will be faster and more violent than he is used to and coming off an injury (mental adjustment as well as physical one). Expecting Brent to make an impact on this team after a one year layoff is bad enough, expecting him to do anything after a 1 year layoff AND missing games due to suspension borders on delusional. Asking players to play at less than 100% (Terrell McClain & Mo Claiborne) is madness. But Cowboys have no choice because they are carrying too many players who may not contribute the first 3 or more games: Melton, Lawerence, Selvie, Scandrick, McClain, Spencer, Okoye

Placing Okoye on NFI was the right thing to do. Let some of these guys live to fight another day in the future.

Jerry needs to bite the bullet and go get some real talent, especially at the 9 and 3. Do not be stubborn about adding vets either. A proper rebuild does not just rely on young talent, but TALENT, period. Landry knew that, Jimmy knew that, Parcells knew that.

Sounds like your concerns are on the defensive side of the ball. As injured players return we will slowly get better. As we get more experience we will slowly get better. The many names you mentioned will impact our team and there is no doubt the defense we field at midseason will be much different than now.

We are not one player away (or two) therefore I disagree that a trade needs to be made. Jerry will overpay and frankly I'd rather build thru the draft and save the draft picks for then.

On a side note - why do I keep reading that "Expecting Brent to make an impact on this team" line the last couple of days? No one has ever said anything like that. Not even the extreme rose colored glass wearing homers in here.

This is what has been bugging me the most. We are relying on too many guys to get healthy or return to their previous form or play out of their minds. We can;t have an entire defense consisting of guys like this. One guy, maybe two could work...

OK, so where do we get this 'real talent' at this stage? You care to give us any examples? Is there some fantasy draft in your head none of us know about? You do realize anyone trying to get 'real talent' right now will pay a huge premium? Are you willing to trade top 2015 draft choices? I'm not! You do realize no team is going to give us 'real talent' without getting 'real talent' in a trade? You willing to trade Dez? I'm not. And if you do find a trading partner, good luck fitting it in the cap without killing future year caps.

Some may mention Logan Mankins as an example. 32 year old, high salary, and declining productivity. No thanks.

More complaining about jerry while asking that they do exactly what Jerry has done the last decade+. A trade doesnt fix this team. They need a couple of good drafts. Say what you want about the drafting, its still a better way of improving than trades are given the Cowboys situation.

They're highly unlikely to win big this season. I would just cut or IR most of these injured players and let the young healthy players play. This season should be about developing as many young players and getting them trained in the schemes as possible. Next season in Free Ageny and the draft is the time to stock up. You don't have to trade for blue chip players once Free Agency comes around again.

They also saved money this season which they can use next season.

They just don't have anything to trade away to get value back.

Some people cannot handle uncertainty.

Selvie, Hayden, Melton, Mincey, Crawford, Bishop, Coleman, and McClain will all rotate in 9 days. DLaw is going to return at some point

Trading for a 'blue chip' DL is a pretty pie in the sky hope. Plan with the world as it is and not how you want it to be.

Don't agree with all your points but at least you are not advocating prayer as a strategy (let's just close our eyes real tight and wait and see what happens). If Garrett believes that going young is the foundation to winning, then lean on the youngsters instead off the invalid.

So is Logan Mankins the only trade that is available or every been done? If you are going to be negative and believe that nothing is achievable then continue placing your head in the sand and accept your destiny, which will be nothing. There are a lot of assets on this team, especially on the offense, not just Dez. Terrence Williams, Demarco Murray, OL, future picks, etc. Luck does not just happen, the harder/smarter you work the better your luck. Quitting repulses me, I fight to the end, I hope my favorite team of all time does the same. There are solutions to any problem, the question is how much work/creativity will you put forth into devising it.

If Man lived in the world as it is instead of what they would want it to be then Man would still be living in caves and be hunter-gatherers. Man imposes his will on the world, exactly like a dominant team does. The most successful entities will dictate, they do not take it in the arse and say thank you.

They drafted Lawrence and Bishop. They signed Coleman, Mincey, McClain, and Melton.

In anceint times when people were uncertain they often made pie in the sky fantasy land up and inserted it for what should happen. Thor and Zeus with their thunderbolts and of course the various fertility cults for example. The myth of the cheaply obtained blue chip DL prospect.

Some of us haven't or weren't hoping.

We knew his would be a rough year for the defense and that you weren't going to change it from bad to good through one draft and one offseason.

I'm not the one praying to icons (Jerry) and hope for a favorable decision. I am an advocate of activisim, like the scientists and futurists in our history. One does not accept what is and hope things change organically, real change occurs by seeking then taking advantage opportunities even those with associated risks. Dreaming big means nothing without bold execution.

Especially when Clowney, Barr, Mack, Shazier and Donald all went off the board. We drafted Lawrence which apparently they felt was the last of the 'blue chip' edge prospects. People's hysterics when they are uncertain and worried are interesting though.
