Yeah, my guess is 80% of the players don't care and the other 20% either barely care or won't dare say anything to contradict the Jerra.

"Dallas viewed the 6-2, 261-pound Galveston native as a “tweener.” Jerry Jones and Co. felt he was too big to play linebacker but not effective enough as a pass rusher to warrant a seventh-round pick."
My guess from that statement is that somebody in the organization or multiple people were lobbying not to go too small at DE. Right after they drafted Lawrence, Marinelli talked more about him having good size more than he talked about his speed and those types of things. Marinelli specifically talked about Lawrence having the ability to get bigger. Marinelli's focus on the size issue seems like a hint that he was pushing to not go to small at DE in the draft.

It's always possible that not everybody in the organization thought Sam was too small at DE, but the majority ruled at draft time.

You have to wonder how a player ends up on the team when it's been widely reported the scouts had no interest in him for virtually the entire offseason...hmm...

He said 0% when asked about signing him.

Yes, well when you hear the team say they have no interest during the draft, why wouldn't you say 0%? Especially when they haven't put in a claim? Is the problem that he didn't say 99%?

Clearly Jerry made a deal for Brent. That's what your suggesting right? Conspiracy theory?

I think we all know why,he is covered so heavily. We don't need that on our team, too much of a distraction.

It will be hard to root for him, would rather have McCray back, and I really dislike him.

I mean hopefully it will distract them enough to not be the 32nd ranked defense.

he played games and produced results. happens all the time in sports

Jerry whined to Stephen: "You didn't let me get Johnny Football, at least let me sell some jerseys."

Stephen caved.

Garrett walked in and asked "What's going on guys?" and was told to get out.

I would not be surprised if that was basically true.

I am all for it. The guy showed a little something in the preseason and, though it may not translate to the regular season, I have no problem with giving him a try. It is not like our defense has shown much at all. Were we stacked on defense, I would say no but we clearly are not.

Welcome to Dallas Mr. Sam! I hope you have a very long and solid career here.

But it was up until a few days ago Broaddus said ZERO interest. He wasn't even getting a sliver of positive feedback from the scouts. This decision came from somewhere else, someone Broaddus doesn't have access to.

Sam went unclaimed for 3 days.

Dallas had already traded for Lavar Edwards, and claimed Jack Crawford. That's two DEs.

If Dallas was wanting to kick the tires on Sam, why did they wait until 6 days until the start of the regular season to give him a chance on the practice squad?

According to Adam Schefter, this thing isn't a rumor at all. Sam is scheduled to report for a physical today. If he passes as expected he's likely to be signed and relegated to the practice squad. There, they can get a good look at him to see what he's got. I'm lovin' this churning. Kinda reminds me of the Jimmy Johnson days where so many were passing thru the turnstiles. -- lol

According to Schefter, we still run a 3-4 and Sam is not a good fit, how can he not know we have run a 4-3 since 2013?

The problem with the idea that the Cowboys had no interest whatsoever in Sam prior to today came from, by my knowledge, the same "insider" who told us there was a 0% chance they'd look to sign him after the Rams cut him.

He makes educated guesses. That's all. Like his comment about draft pick signings. He acted like he knew something from the inside, when he merely thought they'd sign when they normally have signed in prior years. Which was a month or so away. Turns out it started the day after he told us that wasn't happening anytime soon.

Strategery.

2 points (and only MHO) if I may:
1) Can he play and get better and help the Dallas Cowboys? Yes, awesome and welcome to Dallas. No, don't let the door hit you in the backside on the way out.
2) First sniff of any of the nonsense that was on the air that had zip, zero, nada to do with football on draft day, don't let the door hit you in the backside on the way out.

I hope he comes here and kicks ***. I really do.

On the other side, if he can't make it on this D line, then he truly has no future in the NFL.

Leave no stone unturned should be the motto for the coaches this year.

People need to be reminded that if he signs it will be to the practice squad. If he gets better, he gets better. If he does not he will eventually be cut.

I'm guessing a call from the league office preceded this. I hate the move. I'm tired of an owner who is a media hound. More drama in Dallas as if we haven't had enough. What Jerry Jones never understands is that the biggest reason we became America's Team is because we WON. The flashy stuff was extra. The substance was a 25 year run of winning football games, and many of them in dramatic fashion. In addition, true or untrue, fair or unfair, the Cowboys had a reputation for class. The one thing I will never associate with Jerry Jones, is class.

Post 27.

It's a PS spot and Jerry can make history. Thank god it's not Johnny Manzier
