NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It’s time to give the most harshly criticized general manager in the NFL a little bit of credit. The addition of middle linebacker Rolando McClain looks like one of the smartest personnel moves that Jerry Jones has made in a long time. After two games, the low-risk trade with the Baltimore Ravens appears to be a tremendous bargain for the Dallas Cowboys. In exchange for swapping a sixth-round pick for Baltimore’s seventh-rounder, the Cowboys acquired a replacement for injured star Sean Lee who has Pro Bowl type of talent.

Only thing that concerns me is the quote at the end from McClain that says, "There weren't many teams I would have got off the couch for." Makes you still question his love for the game a little. Guys who love football would play for anyone. I understand wanting to go to an ideal situation (which Dallas is far from), but I can't understand not wanting to play at all if not for a few teams. That tells me he would have been perfectly happy staying home this season.
 
I don't mind giving jerry credit at all. Right now this plus the Henry Melton signing and I'll add not paying hatcher and cutting ware all look like good moves. That said it still doesn't make jerry a good gm. Someone said something about a process. :D

That is true. I give credit to Jerry for getting him for little cost. I will give him even more credit when he decides to move on from McClain. Can't trust players like that long term.
 
this is how bad we are, someone has one good play against a bad team on a good day and BAM, best decision EVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Come on, isnt there some bright spot to your day. He got an interception, he didnt have a sparkling day, he didnt take over the game, he didnt rally the defense. He had a good game. Lords have mercy, it happens.

Jerry get this one right so far (2 games in) But its not like this was a shrewed genius GM move…this was a desperate stab in the dark GM move. He "might have" got this one right…but its not like his % is great on these things…he is still Jerry the Joke of a GM.

Are you talking about his decision to go to the Broncos? That's completely different. He was a 37 year old veteran, Super Bowl champion, and future Hall of Famer. We see it in basketball all the time. After a guy establishes himself (usually 7 years into his career in the NBA) he wants to make a decision to go to a team that's best for himself. But you don't see guys who are 21 in the NBA and not sure if they even want to play the game unless a team like the Spurs gives him a call.

There are examples right in the middle of drafts where a QB wouldn't agree to sign with the team who drafted him...seeing anything here yet?
