I agree but I think those GMs do a lot of scouting and personal research themselves and almost certainly came up the ranks doing so. I don't believe jerri does much if any, certainly not enough to be remotely competitively competent among his peers with whom he is competing against.

GM's do not have time to go out and scout players, that is why they all have scouting staffs they hire these men and they rely on these men to get them the information. Get down to it the GM like any boss is only as good as the people he hires. Jerry has made poor hires and moves made by him sense he is the last word have at time hurt this team. When he has made a move that goes bad call him out when he and the organization make a move that pans out then give credit.

Can't do it, I think he's an empty shell, a fraud and a liar so I'll never know enough to say he deserves credit for anything specific. He's lost my trust and I believe the more involved he is with the team operations the more it hurts the chances of winning. I don't expect you or anyone else to agree, its a tired subject, so I won't go any further.

It is clear to me that Deon was a jerri move and I give him credit for that because I do think it was an integral piece in getting that 3rd super bowl, so there's that......

He chose to retire when he did because he knew his heads wasn't on straight. He saw what happened to Aaron Hernadez and it spooked him, got scared that could be him if he didn't straighten his life out. I find it admirable and hopefully he's in a good place where he can now achieve his potential. Here's a link to an article, written before Dallas acquired him that tells his story so it may put him in a better perspective here in the zone.

His problems started before Hernandez. He's been a head case since he was drafted. Also, I don't understand how seeing what happened to a serial murderer is a wake up call for someone unless they're also a serial murderer. I don't watch the news and go, "Man, after what happened to Ted Bundy I might have to start reevaluating things."

Really your an
this is how bad we are, someone has one good play against a bad team on a good day and BAM, best decision EVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Come on, isnt there some bright spot to your day. He got an interception, he didnt have a sparkling day, he didnt take over the game, he didnt rally the defense. He had a good game. Lords have mercy, it happens.

okay, that's fine. Doubt you read the article but it's your prerogative to not understand or like him. Either way, I hope for him and the boys this turns into something positive.

So why does Jerry get credit? Not saying he doesn't but how do you know when to give Garrett the credit or Will McClay the credit? Or a scout the credit?

Probably time people start realizing, that while Jerry is the final say. Those two and probably a few more share in any credit or blame for the majority of the moves made. At least for the last few years.

I actually agree with you there. I always thought it was silly how Jerry always gets sole credit/or blame as if he's the one actually scouting the players he brings in. Someone is giving him the go to sign off on these players.

imo, we don't really have a gm, we have a think tank obfuscated by jerri to the point where we never know for sure who is responsible for decisions, all i think jerry does is ratify or veto a consensus brought to him and occasionally pulls a wildcat move like signing Deon "cuz he wants to". Were Roy Williams and T Owens one of his wildcat moves? Who can say of sure but it had that jerri stank on it imo. So no, I don't think jerri thought this up and only gets credit for ratifying a move suggested by someone else

That's the role of the GM and I agree with you. But its no different than any other GM. I just always think its funny we always blame Jerry solely for moves that are good and bad. This McClain move screams McClay and/or Garrett to me. Ex-lottery pick who's looking for a new start.

I do like him. I didn't read that article but I have read articles on him. I think part of his problem may be due to his high intelligence. A lot of naturally intelligent people have an aversion to authority and normal lifestyles. I actually respect and appreciate that. I'm just saying that I don't absolutely trust that McClain will be here for the long haul. I want to believe he will but his track record says otherwise.

He played pretty good last game, and this one. The pursuit he provides for someone his size is pretty impressive. And he's physical....
It's been a good move so far.... but lets take it easy...... it's only been two game.

all we can do is hope that he wants to keep playing here..

i'll tell you honestly he is already my favorite player on the team after 2 games..

his enthusiasm, tackling, kind swagger and just looking like he has fun out there is addicting..

absolutely love him..

ESPN, Cowboys' fans, anyone who has played Midget league football, all believe that they can run an organization better than the guy with three Lombardis. Any other GM would give his right arm to say he has done what JJ has done. No one, not Bill Polian, not Charlie Casserly, not even Ozzie Smith has done what Jones has done and he can't even get a pat on the back from his own fanbase.

I'd gladly give him a swift kick in the *** if I was given the opportunity
