Escobar only had three offensive snaps on Sunday?

What happened to this guy? Hanna had 20 and Devin Street had 15. Is it that Hanna is that much better of a blocker? Is it Linehan likes the three receever sets? What?

Houston's size and power up front were not a good matchup for Escobar inline and we countered then crowding the line and blitzing the secondary by a TON of 11 sets. It was more of a Beasley thing than a Hanna thing.

My uneducated unscientific opinion is he isn't an effective blocker, may never be an effective blocker, and therefore isn't a great fit for the power offense the Cowboys have morphed into.

Witten and Hanna are better blockers and therefore when 2 TEs are on the field it really never makes much sense to have Escobar out there.

Unfortunately for Escobar, I think he was drafted to play an offense, where the plan was to feature throwing it to the TEs a LOT like NE did with there for a while. The Cowboys no longer run that offense.

probably because we are running the football so well...witten and hanna are killing it with this beast of a line we got now.

escobar was drafted with the grander we would have two te's that would wreak havoc catching the ball.

well ...we are a run team now...escobar can not block so in essence...it's now a wasted draft pick.

he should still be looked at in the red zone though.

You guys are unbelievable.

There's a role for him on this team. Quit complaining about an embarrassment of riches. If you're going to complain, let's hear about the paucity of edge rushers we've got on this defense.

Maybe a solid Dlineman???? Nah. We haven't even showcased him to where teams can see his value.

I think people could be intrigued on talent alone. He hasn't shown to be a bust. We just don't use him. And he was drafted in the 2nd two years ago. It isn't like Claiborne who's already proven he can't play.

In my pipe dream world I'd trade him to Houston for Mercilus.

People are lazy especially mentally. They have a pre-written narrative and they can just ape it.

DERP SECOND ROUND TE BAD DERP!!!!!!!

DERP MARTELLUS BENNETT = ESCOBAR DERP THEY SAME DERP!!!!!

Escobar can block?

He's more of a get in the way guy at this point but he does do a good job holding on. It's been one offseason to strengthen his body. If he is willing to work then he will get better.

Seems to me he worked upper body more than lower. He needs better leg drive.

Hannah has looked better than Escobar this year. That should tell you what you need to know about the quality of that 2nd round draft selection. Dallas missed on that one.

He may not be wasted pick or the same as Bennett. But he is not being utilized and the pick could possibly have been used in a more productive player.
Although, that does not matter now it's still interesting to me to look at where we could have drafted better.

Jason Witten, James Hanna, Gavin Escobar.

An embarrassment of riches.

Escobar has a ways to go to be as good of a player as Martellus Bennett.

The inability to get Escobar involved is a slap in the face to Cowboys fans after numerous tight ends we've drafted early at the cost of helping this defense.

And guess what, they all go on to succeed elsewhere. Fasano, Bennett are both doing well in this league. Escobar will go on to be a premier tight end for someone, and we'll have wasted another draft pick.
