Well, if you want progress to continue, then you better recognize Callahan and Garrett were rifting last year and Stephen Jones said that Callahan wanted to leave last year and Callahan's contract expires after this season.

Callahan is doing a very good job with OL as is Pollack who was coaching OL last season. Garrett took over play calling towards the middle of last season even Jerry has said that. Garrett brought in Linehan a coach he has worked with and a coach he trust which evidently was not the case last season with Callahan. Stephen Jones even says the demotion of Callahan, Kiffin along with the promotion of Linehan and Marinnielli were because of Garrett.

I know, I know... Take it all in....

Fact: The final 8 game stat you keep bringing up lines up when Garrett took over calling plays from Callahan.

Fact: When Kiffin wanted to step down and suggested Marinelli it was Garrett that promoted him...this has been confirmed by both Stephen and JERRY.

Fact: Garrett has a history with Linehan and he hired him to run HIS OFFENSE...again confirmed by both Stephen and JERRY.

Fact: During the 20 years post Jimmy Jerry has never spent above a 2nd round pick on OL. In 3 out of 4 Garrett drafts we have used our first on OL.

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones wanted everybody to know Jason Garrett had the right to add Scott Linehan, demote Bill Callahan and Monte Kiffin, and promote Rod Marinelli.
In speaking with ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Jones said, "you just have to let your head coach have that latitude."

http://cowboyszone.com/threads/scott-linehans-impact.303115/page-4

And Jerry Jones, a month later, February 27th, when the spin had died down because of the shake-up, explained what really happened for the hundredth time:
"That wasn't the plan," Jones said at the combine on Sunday, via the Dallas Morning News. "Going into training camp, going into [organized team activities], going into that period of the time, the plan was for Bill to ultimately be the play-caller with Romo executing it."

"He will have a lot more time spent on defense than he will on offense," Jones said. "We want his input on defense."

Yep. No doubt Jerry wanted Jason to focus on coaching the team and not being OC and HC and Garrett agreed and when Linehan became available Callahna was demoted and Linehan brought in because of Jason Garrett as you said Stephen Jones confirms that.

Garrett sucked at playcalling.

It was obvious then and Linehan has made it even more obvious now.

There is like 5 people in the whole world who think Jason Garrett was a good playcaller and they are all zone members.

It's over and fortunately we'll probably never have to see Jason Garrett call another play again.

True it was not the plan but Garrett showed he was no puppet he took over the play calling mid way in the season, a puppet would not do that. Callahan is then demoted by Garrett per Stephen Jones. Scott Linehan is brought in by Garrett per Stephen Jones saying HC must have that latitude. Kiffin demoted and Marninelli promoted to DC per Stephen Jones. We know you don't like Garrett but you are so full of claiming he is doing nothing but standing around.

Callahan was not calling great plays either as he was calling plays last season until he lost the play calling duties.

I don't know when Callahan was actually calling plays but I've followed Callahan for a lot of his career post Oakland and he is just as horrible of a offensive coordinator as anyone.

I watched Cowboyszone pom pom him because that's what homers do but Callahan is absolutely awful at coordinating an offense. Especially one that isn't even the type of scheme he is most familiar with.

Confirming what I stated, which was:

Garrett, not Bill Callahan, "was really your [offensive] coordinator last year. That's a fact.," Jones said.

And that Jason was always interfering:

“Jason was really your coordinator last year,” Jones said. “That’s a fact. That was one of the issues. It was unfair to Bill. But it was the offense that [Garrett] had had since [he] had got there and it was very difficult. That’s why we had such a tough time articulating it early. That’s why we made some of the switches we made during the middle of the season.”

Fact: When Kiffin wanted to step down and suggested Marinelli it was Garrett that promoted him...this has been confirmed by both Stephen and JERRY.

Kiffen absolutely sucked and there is no way you can spin it. Everybody was specifically worried about Marinelli leaving out of loyalty to Kiffin, which is why they essentially kept Kiffen around in this role.

Fact: Garrett has a history with Linehan and he hired him to run HIS OFFENSE...again confirmed by both Stephen and JERRY.

It was 2005, when Saban was coach. And Linehan was actually the OC and Garrett was UNDER him. And you got to love how it's about Garrett's offense when Garrett 'worked' UNDER Linehan in the 'same offense' under a different coach you claim that is now Garrett's offense. The only similarity is they run a vertically-based Coryell offense. And as Linehan pointed out, they have really used Callahan's running philosophy. And Jerry also pointed out that they use totally different terminology with Linehan than Garrett. Whatever the case is, Jason Garrett was forced to make these changes and their is no way you can spin it and Jerry relegated him to defense.

Fact: During the 20 years post Jimmy Jerry has never spent above a 2nd round pick on OL. In 3 out of 4 Garrett drafts we have used our first on OL.

And it's been Bill Callahan who has been building this OL, the guy your trying to argue sucks, because Garrett 'took' play-calling back from him. The same game Garrett was rifting with last year and the same guy that wanted to walk, but Jerry didn't let him. You know the same guy who coached multiple years in Wisconsin, where Frederik was from. The guy who went to work him out. Sorry, but your buddy brought in Houck and was using a power-blocking scheme in his offense. Bill Callahan has revamped the whole scheme and running game.

But yeah, forget about the connections of Callahan to the line, but talk about Garrett's connections...

The Cowboys come into this season with only one real change on the offense, the addition of rookie Zack Martin at right guard.

the bigger difference is an extremely young offensive line had another year to get stronger, and to play as a unit. This isn't baseball where you have a bunch of individuals at the plate. You play as a team on the OL. It's more like synchronized swimming, especially zone blocking schemes.

I'm not saying Garretts offensive scheme was horrible. His playcalling was though.

That was one of the major problems as Jerry pointed out. Trying to fit Callahan in with this offense, since he was a WC guy and the offense wasn't, was not fair to Callahan. Jerry also refused to let Callahan go and I'm sure it's because of the running the game and OL work he did.

It's clear that their were tensions and disarray in how the offense was operating, though the Garrett-homers were telling us how the offense was a top 5 offense and there were no issues. Some kept telling us Romo was audibling out of the running plays called. The reality is, Jerry didn't want Garrett calling plays anymore. That experiment is over.

Last year wasn't the first time we've seen Jason Garrett call plays and continuously abandon the run.

We're finally not completely Romo dependent and we finally run plays the actually keep the defense honest instead of watching them tee off on Romo.

Link to “garrett homers” claiming no issues. When the owner decides who is calling plays, issues certainly did exist.

When the dust settles, I am going to be comfortable knowing that I was on the side critical of the owner calling the shots he should not be calling.

I'm not saying Garretts offensive scheme was horrible. His playcalling was though.

His 'scheme' is Coryell. Linehan could have walked in and implemented anybody's Coryell. I don't know how this is a credit to Garrett's genius, especially when Linehan was the OC in 2005 when Garrett was actually the QB coach. What is HIS offense? The running schemes are not the same when Garrett came in and ran his offense with Houck, who Garrett ALSO worked with. Everybody is praising the OL as his work, but forgetting who Garrett brought in and who they drafted during that era. The running schemes are Callahan's who totally revamped the line and the schemes. When your bottom four in the league in play-action with Garrett and running a lot of empty-back field sets, what praise can you heap on Garrett's offense, other than it happens to be a Coryell?

In honesty, he's more like Cad Cameron who he also coached under and got fired mid-season, and the Ravens went on to win the SB. That guy, and I'm from the same area, was getting bashed for not running the ball in Baltimore.

I just didn't answer in the way you liked... That doesn't mean I didn't answer it.

No you did not answer it.
You went around it instead of the bare bones question I asked.

It proves what I thought you were about on this topic.

I will let you continue as you have proven to me you do not wish to be honest with me on the topic and have tunnel vision.

Carry on.

we can finally line up on 3rd and 1 and expectto succeed running the ball. the OL we had last year could not do that. 1 new person isn't the reason. The other 4 playing better is.

Jerry decided who was calling plays, because Jason Garrett was bad at it. Jerry gave Garrett plenty of rope the first few seasons, especially during the Wade era. Dan Reeves was suppose to come in and look at the running game and when that was squashed, Jerry didn't go find another 'consultant' to assist the offense, letting Garrett do his thing for multiple years.
