I bought a Nook a couple years ago with the idea that it would have access to Android apps, notsomuch as an e-reader. The problems is that half the apps we'd prefer to use on there, don't work or aren't supported.

I don't want an iPad. Too expensive for me.

I can get an android 7" ( my preference) or regular tablet on groupon for a pretty decent price.

So what's your flavor, folks?

Why would she get an ipad then?

This should help with options and ratings. http://www.cnet.com/topics/tablets/products/

Just skip over the Apple nonsense.

iPads blow for what you pay...like most Apple products. I don't get why people think they are so good.

My mom has a Kindle and I actually really like that.

My friend and sister have Kindles and they both love them. I'm just afraid that my experience with Kindle as far as apps would turn out to be similar to the Nook.

I'll do some research this weekend. If it works, that will save some time and money.

WL... one day sale only... today (Friday) iPad Mini Gen 1 for $199...

It's the one I have and I love it...

Online only...

Unless you just really don't want an Apple... I know you have this thing for Blackberry... ;)
Well, I really don't want an Apple. :) But even if I did want one, I wouldn't be able to do it today.

And leave my Blackberry alone. It's still a good phone for how I use it. :)

Nexus 7.......can't beat it

I've been eyeballing the Nexus 7. Do you have to get service through Verizon to get 4G service? I'm with ATT and would rather stay with them.

I had a Nexus 7 and it was great - except the charge port went bad....that might have been me using it too much/too roughly, and I might have done it on any tablet - not sure on that. Budget has me on a Nook and miss the Nexus 7 because Nook has it's layer over the Android OS that makes navigation different and prevents you from using some Google Apps. :(

I'd get a Nexus 7 again, but probably with a warranty plan.
