Green Bay --- The Packers evaluated Aaron Rodgers' calf Wednesday and apparently are not ready to give the quarterback the go-ahead to practice quite yet. Coach Mike McCarthy originally said the team hoped to get him back to practice Thursday.

Rodgers, who said this week he's not worried about a lack of practice reps, was not present in the portion of practice open to reporters Wednesday. Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien got the quarterback reps.

Rogers' injury will be a non factor in the game.

They are just resting him for the game. I'm sure he'll be fine.

I pretty much agree with the posts above. Anyone expecting Rodgers to be hobbled is going to be disappointed

I expect Rodgers to play and to play well.

Me too...he doesn't need too much practice unfortunately. I will say this: I look for him to throw VERY short, controlled routes with a 1-3 step drop. That's what he did vs. Detroit because that calf doesn't allow him to throw deep. I think Rod knows this and will play very tight bump and run coverage and make him prove he can go over the top. They might go some shotgun too which they never normally do to my knowledge. This would help his calf in not having to drop back.

Might not be able to scramble as well or less inclined to do so. I expect him to be well enough.

They're just taking necessary and timely precautions. I'd be surprised if he's not ready to go by gametime.

Which calf is it, if its the right one may not be too bad if its the left it may cause problems.

He hasn't practiced in two weeks. He will be fine, that 13 degrees never bothers those type injuries, he will be fine. OOkay.

You would have to think the injury will be somewhat of a factor as far as getting his footwork correct and stepping into throws. I also think the lack of practice reps may affect his accuracy. And he wont be scrambling around much which actually is a part of his game - more so than a lot of QB's.

I expect he'll play and he is a fierce competetor, a very smart QB and has a great feel for the game so I would expect he will be a challenge for this defense but i dont expect him to be at 100% by any means.

Rodgers has some games every year where his accuracy is so good its just crazy, but i dont think this week will be one of those types of games for him.

He doesn't need to practice to be effective. Team must prepare as if Rodgers will be at his very best. And he probably will be.

So what you are saying is the Cowboys should bait the Packers into throwing deep to Jordy Nelson?

:p
