Sponsors were threatening to pull advertisements in Minnesota if Peterson stayed. I think the Hotel they were staying at threatened to end their relationship with the orginazation as well. I seriously doubt Peterson will be back Minnesota.

The real issue is Peterson is not gonna get reinstated until mid April while free agency begins in March, so That's what Peterson is trying to get changed now, He wants to be able to sign with a team when free agency begins. Maybe this helps Dallas if Peterson gets released in April because he won't be able to get as much money that far into the offseason.

i wrote back a nice adendumdum after meine hasty response. but did you not write: "And I'm VERY familiar with the game." ??

so let us not make opera out of dis.

I'm asking you because someone else(I assumed it was you initially) said something along the lines of "You're not familiar with the game" as if he was a professional NFL scout or something. That's when my response was "i'm very familiar" with the game. I'm just curious to what do you guys mean by this.

I'm probably the only person on this board who does't want AP. Don't need the contract, don't need the drama, he's older, no idea if he's lost a step or not, no idea how he would jive with out team chemistry, he comes with baggage. What makes anyone think he will be any cheaper than Demarco? Anyway, my opinon....

ME: "Let's get Brady, he wants to be a Cowboy and will come here for cheap. We cannot afford FA Romo and Murray"
CZ forum member: "No, Brady is over the hill. Rather draft a QB or a FA QB"
Me: "*** are you smoking????'

Me: "Let's get Calvin Johnson. He has always wanted to be a Cowboy and we cannot afford TWill and Romo"
CZ forum member: "Noooo, he is old and look at those stats falling. So what he'll come here for cheap and loves the Cowboys. Let's draft a WO in the 4th."
ME: "*** are you smoking??"

Simply, AP is the best at his position and still has a couple of years left... It is a no brainer if he is willing to play for cheap.

No thankyou. The AP to Dallas idea is fun for this forum, but not a reality I think. That ship has/or should of, sailed...

They were talking about it on first take this morning that it looks like Peterson to Dallas is a no brainer at this point when discussing if Dallas should sign Dez or Demarco. Signing Peterson is just the thing to get this team excited and confident they can make a deep run next season.

Peterson #1. Randle #2. Williams #3.

Dunbar can go he is rarely used and overhyped.

Share the load more - we don't need AP to carry 400 times. Randle will be even better and Williams will be the bruiser.

Peterson is rested and motivated. Breakaway speed means more TDs and knockout punches.

I have no agenda against Murray I appreciate all his hard work.

If you think defenses respected our run game this year and stacked the box trying to avoid 5-10 yard runs, wait until they see AP back there and soil themselves knowing if he gets through the hole it's game over.

Thats what they are going to say when we draft a young 20 year old guy like Gurley or Duke. And it comes at a fraction of the cost.

I think it makes sense for the Cowboys to load up for two years(thanks how long i think we have romo, and thats if we are very very lucky) --- with talented guys who want a SB. And AP would fit that description.....

No breaking the bank......for anybody really. I hope those days are past the Cowboys. Yeah, you have to pay guys. Dez gets paid. the OLINE will get paid.... but, lets not willy nilly throw money at guys...

I wouldn't mind seeing AP here. But I would make sure I have someone in place pushing him too....3rd 4th maybe 5th rounder. RBs are deep this year, i hear.

Peterson probably won't sign for low enough for the Cowboys to get him. The won't spend 8-10 mil on a RB.

Any other RB in history at age 30 i'd say no to but this guy is the most physically talented player to ever play his position.

If he lost 20% of his athleticism he would be around Demarco's level.

Plus the guy hasn't played a lot of football the last 3 years.

Im all in with this move. If you can get him do it.

I don't think any team that is a legit championship contender will pay that amount.

I think he wants to win titles and I think he wants to be a Cowboy on top of that.

He'll probably go at worst the same market value as Murray. Which will still be more than Dallas is willing to pay it looks like. I think it's either DeMarco or we go with a RB by committee type thing next year and be more of what we were before last year sadly which will lead to Romo centered offense.

You could be right.

I just think there is a limited amount of teams he can even go to after his incident.

Dallas would give him a 2 or 3 year deal worth 15 mill and I think he would take it.

Probably but he's still going to demand a lot more money than 3-4 mil like we as fans want. It'll be around the 6-10 mil range. Dallas will say no thanks to that because they aren't willing to pay Murray that.

Why pay a RB in his 30s that's taken more of a pounding than Murray has over almost a decade in the NFL that much?

AP is not going to get anywhere near what he was getting in Minnesota. He should know that. The market value on a RB nowadays has declined considerably and Murray himself will see that as well. Yes AP's age and wear is a major concern too, but I have no doubt he has at least 2 and even 3 great years ahead of him with the right team----and Dallas would be the right team. He takes care of himself in the offseason, came back stronger than ever after his injury and playing in Texas would be a god send to him. He wants to come here and wear the star. You don't think he would make a major sacrifice in his bank account for that. Its still not peanuts. And for a possible crack at the SB next year.

I always said that I would like Murray here first and foremost, but if he outpriced his value to the team then he can test FA. Cowboys may still be lowballing Murray at 4 yrs 16M; could be because they have a Plan B (whatever it may be) and do not feel the risk in losing him would be great. Stay tuned, we shall see.

If Dunbar is overhyped, what does that make Williams? This is a guy that some people said wouldn't make it to the practice squad after he was cut. Then some said another team would sign him away from Dallas. Then after Murray broke his hand some said Dallas would put him on the active roster and he would get playing time. None of those things happened. He has done 4 years of nothing, but some think he is an important piece. I don't see how he is a bruiser He is listed as 5'-10" and 205 lbs.
