Worst Playcall In Sports History

If they absolutely HAD to call a pass, why not a play action pass to the back of the end zone, or a bootleg play/run? Why throw in to traffic like that? A slant? Just ridiculous. I almost wonder if Belichick knew the play, that kid jumped it, and I wonder if Carroll threw the game. Forget that, it was just a stupid play call. Garrett does these things too. When an obvious play is there, you try to fool logic. Seahawks could not stop the pass, so Belichick kept passing it. It's natural logic, don't go against logic.

Cowboys were running at will against Green Bay, so on 3rd and short and the end of the half, Romo audibles out of what's been working.

At the end he was on the bench watching his team lose, if not for the CB and just pure stupidity out of the Hawks they lose.
For this game I have a hard time saying he was the MVP.

Brady is the MVP in my mind and it's not even close.

I have so much respect for that guy.

We've got thousands of posts here on CZ of Cowboys fans whining and worrying about how the Cowboys could even possibly consider letting their all-world WR (Dez) go in free agency and how the team would be making a huge mistake letting their 1800 RB (Murray) go, etc etc....

Brady has two tiny white possession WRs to throw to and a the leader rusher on his team ran for 412 yards this season. Their OL is average at best...... and Brady just WINS.

He is the Superbowl MVP and is making a strong case for being the GOAT QB in NFL history....

He's got the TE version of Dez, not to mention a cheating coach, who knows what Belichick is doing behind closed doors to get an advantage. Watching that last interception, it almost seems like he knew it was coming.

Absolutely the most brutal play call in the history of sport.

Anyone involved in that decision should be fired and/or cut.

I agree. Given what was at stake and the game situation, this was the worst possible play call in history.

Yea, I would be sick if I were a seahawks fan right now..

Russell "Media Darling" Wilson needed to get the glory instead of Marshawn "Surly Thug" Lynch.

I don't think this needs to turn into a personal attack on Russell Wilson, he's sincerely a good person and he's a pretty good quarterback. And I also don't think Pete Carroll and whoever else was involved was thinking that, they were just giving too much credit to New England's defensive line and it made them get cute with the play calling.

No argument for 99% of this post. Just not THIS game. Brady was sulking on the sideline. He knew they lost like 99% of the millions watching the game.
He had nothing to do with the final big play. He got MVP because of his name on this one.

Gotta admit..the throw was equally bad too…you have to be careful with the throws in this situation

It's a do or die throw. It's such a quick-hitting play, you're basically throwing to a spot expecting the WR to be running free. Browner blew up the pick, allowing Butler to make an outstanding play on the ball. Maybe a better QB is able to see the failed pick and throws it away.

from a late round draft pick cb, but still dumb play call. Why not run lynch. Plenty of time and ball super close to the endzone. smh

It was a good throw. It was a much better play by the cornerback.

I thought the throw looked good, too, but was just an outstanding play by the DB. Not sure why some posters say it was a bad throw. A high risk play, for sure, with the crowded and compact field.
