2022 World Cup dates set (dont be mad)

FIFA doesn't care about the U.S. because their bread basket is the rest of the world, which is good because just about no one in the U.S. will give 2 turds about the Soccer Olympics when it is going up directly against the home stretch of the NFL regular season.

ESPN must be bawlng their eyes out.

FOX has the rights to the 2018 and 2022 Word Cup.

That's even funnier! I don't see the NFL giving them a break with programming schedules so if any NFL games overlap the World Cup.... whoops!

understand that Soccer is the fastest growing sport in America, and if team USA competes in the tourney, we must watch. ok so the NFL, college football, etc will still be happening during that time. but think of this, it is what it is. we cant convince fifa to change the schedule, we have to leave it as it is, and we must watch the games. this is more important that going to bars, drinking beer, listening to techno music(i do hope techno dies by then). also we have to start christmas shopping early before the tournament starts. we can do this. believe me.

understand that Soccer is the fastest growing sport in America,
People have been saying that for 20 years now. "Fastest growing" is just a code for "nobody is watching it right now so any growth looks big in terms of percentages."

As this past summer showed, people in America enjoy watching the Soccer Olympics once every 4 years. Then, as this past fall and winter showed, once the Soccer Olympics were over, Americans went back to not caring about the sport at all. And no one is going to care about Qatar v. Australia in 2022 when Cowboys-Packers is on. But this will be the 1st time the Soccer Olympics goes up against the king of American sports.

Good point. I was actually thinking back to when the Soccer Olympics were in the U.S. (I cannot believe it has been 20 years since!:eek:) but now that you mention it, they've been saying this ever since the days of Pele and the NY Cosmos (which I can happily say I was too young to remember).

Ahhhh... All the major European soccer leagues are running at that time.
So they lose all the best players. Plus have to compete for air time with World Cup.
Something has to give.

They will probably go on hiatus while the tourney is on. I'd expect fixtures to be a bit more congested that year as well.

Well they will condense schedules then. Any player who get's past first round will be toast the rest of the regular season.

we gonna convince our football loving friends to cut down on NFL and college games so they can watch team USA in action. we'll continue watching our Cowboys and other teams we support, but if its team we dont support, dont watch. the World Cup in Qatar needs us.

The games are also in Qatar. ,oat of the games won't be on at the same time either.

we've only had a domestic league for 20 years. Its fairly new. And ! the average attendance has grown steadily in the past 10 years. The MLS averages more fans per game than the NBA and NHL. Over 20,000. The popularity is growing rapidly , unless of course you're in denial and refuse too see it.
