S/CB Corey White claimed today by Cowboys

They have had guys in the past in this situation where they waited until the end of camp and told them they could make the 53 if they took a pay cut to the veteran minimum.

Would they be able to do that with this guy though? His salary is inflated by some new rule from the cba.

White was thrown to the wolves prematurely when NO was desperate for help during Rob Ryan's tenure.
If he's given a chance to develop and absorb the system sufficiently, he just might be a pleasant surprise.

Exactly what I read. CB is a position that really needs up to 3 years to develop. Think Orlando Scandrick. Some guys can come in and be great (Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson), but those are not normal guys.

The downside is almost non-existant, at worst, marginal. There's nearly 1/2 a year before the first game.

I would leave this guy at Safety with most of his snaps coming in the Nickel. I do like Church and think Wilcox will improve, but I think we dodged a bullet last year when we went with the backups we had at S but both starters stayed completely healthy.
