Is it just me that believes McFadden is starting RB?

2. How did he really turn out? Do we honestly know?

3. He is still young enough to be feature rb for us so why not?


I am posting this thread because I would like to know what people really think about him as a player?

Real deal answers. Backed up with real info and serious analysis?

From what i have seen from him is that he is a willing player but to me it seems he lacks confidence.

I do think right now this signing is nothing more then creating competition. And that is what Garrett is all about in this time of the year.

Its is a good signing because we can cut him anytime without negativ implications regarding our cap situation.

I hope he will renew his career. I doubt it but with our OL maybe he wil regain confidence. But then his injuries concern me alot. Mabe he beats out Dunbar as our 3rd down back.

Summary: good signing with not alot of potential as the featured back. Need good draft or another veteran.

Somebody would have to explain to me why the Raiders' run game was worse with McFadden getting the carries vs. the rest of the backs.

That's the little hang up that doesn't jive with the poor supporting cast defense.

It would be nice to see McFadden have a career year- and it's entirely possible since he's never had the blocking he'll get in Dallas. However, the starting running back is in the draft. I'd love for Dallas to get Todd Gurley; let him recover from the ACL; and have him take over the starting spot from McFadden in late October or so.

Perhaps with McFadden in the game, teams geared more towards defending the run, who knows....I just know that this guy had talent when in college, so with a fully functioning OL, I would hope his ypc is pretty good....even with the lowly raidahs, he averaged 4.1 ypc for his career, although his last 3 years were quite average

That keeps getting ignored. There is direct, tangible evidence that he was worse. But then people throw in Latavius Murray's huge game and claim that just skews the results.

It is true the Raiders struggled with a solid plan for blocking. But a big part of that is on him, not the other way around.

McFadden will be tried on 3rd downs to provide pass pro for Tony and could be a receiver out of the backfield.
The one he'd be most likely to replace would be Lance Dunbar, who cannot block well enough to be effective.

They are going back to rb by committee. If someone emerges like Murray did than that guy could be the lead pony. McFadden right now looks like the 3rd down back. He can block, run, catch, and even throw the halfback pass if they want to throw the kitchen sink at a defense.

Ask somebody from the Raiders or who follows the Raiders to explain it to you. He's now running behind the best oline in football with a top 5 QB and a top 3 WR, that's NOT the Raiders. Look at his skill set, his power, his speed, his blocking ability, and add it to our offense and see how it applies. Who gives 2 farts about what he did with the Raiders, it's about how he fits in as a Cowboy. Focus on that instead of looking for negative crap all the time. Just a thought!

I would think after a player has won or been on a winning team pretty much there whole life.....it has to become mental...and after losing for so long maybe it affected his game? Or maybe he sucks..maybe some of you are right and he sucks..even then it didn't cost the team much to know for sure..If he does get refreshed with a new team and finds a new desire to be great with this oline then they'll look like geniuses for what was a great signing....

I felt the guy was always suspect in his ability to make yards after contact. Even going back to Arkansas, if his running lanes weren't clean, McFadden wasn't going to hurt you. The guy was always good as a receiver and is good in space, but absolutely not a guy I would line up and ask for more than 5-7 carries in a given week.

It seems we replaced one DM with another DM , LOL !

McFadden is still young , not too much wear and tear and has speed which Murray didn't and will have a good OL in front to block. Also he was healthy for 16 games last year. I'm cautiously optimistic , the combination of this DM and Williams and "too stupid for his own good" Randle can be viable running attack . One thing is I don't know how This DM fares in pass protection , that is very important

In all seriousness, you can tell with his contract structure the FO doesn't expect to much from him. They have to be thinking he might have something left, if not he's a minimum wage cut. Everyone says don't pay for what a player did in the past, we sure did here.

I just watched a lot of his clips and I followed him in college, in many of those clips he used a strong stiff arm to push defenders to the ground, and I watched him power into the LOS and move the pile on short yardage runs. Yes, there's a lot of breakaway runs in his clips which is a good thing especially running behind our oline which is the best in the league. McFadden is a big strong fast runner.
