Is it just me that believes McFadden is starting RB?

Sounds like the bulk of Murray's season last year.

True but Murray runs with more power and has a much better chance at breaking tackles at the point of contact. If you look at Mcfadden he struggled finding room behind the raiders oline and didnt break many tackles at the line. However, Mcfadden is better than Murray in the open field and can take it to the house. He just has to come off the field in short yardage.

1.Is it just me that believes McFadden is starting RB?

2. How did he really turn out? Do we honestly know?

3. He is still young enough to be feature rb for us so why not?

I am posting this thread because I would like to know what people really think about him as a player?

Real deal answers. Backed up with real info and serious analysis?

Thanks

I think he will be part of running back rotation, with a high draft pick as the starter.

I don't even know why it matters who starts.

Even if we draft a guy, it's not like that guy is just going to come in as the starter. I don't think a single RB drafted last year kicked off their rookie season as the starter at their position, so even if we get a good one, McFadden and the other guys will still play a big role.

My impression is he's a straight-line guy. Not much wiggle and shift. If it's clear, he'll hurt you. If he needs to adjust, he loses a lot of pace. But what do I know?

Murray is more straight line than McFadden. I think people really have a bad impression of him because he was getting hit so many times in the backfield.

That's why I like him in the 3rd down back role. Find ways to get him in space with the pass or draw. He can do pass protection.

I see it as a low risk high reward signing, like Rolando McClain.
The Cowboys have done that before.

McClain was more of a Hail Mary after Lee got hurt. They are great when they work but hard to rely on.

Somebody would have to explain to me why the Raiders' run game was worse with McFadden getting the carries vs. the rest of the backs.

That's the little hang up that doesn't jive with the poor supporting cast defense.

a rookie qb got better as the year went on.

the rookie qb had 3 200+ yard passing games in the first 12 weeks. he had 3 in the last four weeks.

He will be either hurt or benched by week 6...................and don't anybody try to tell me it was Oakland, because freaking Latavious Murry totally outplayed his arse when McFadded was benched in week 11 last season. Even the Raiders got tired of watching McFadden suck.

I have watched 4 games from last year working on the Cleveland game now and am going to finish up with the Buffalo game.

All I can say is that it is obvious you have not watched him play with the Raiders. Poor information leads to poor deductions. I will have more here later tonight in the post I am making.

He is a good player when healthy. There is no way to predict his health, but he has enough talent to succeed.

His is very good in pass protection.

He is still faster than Murray.

He has not fumbled much.

They won't give him the same amount of carries as Murray even if he is healthy. They really like Ryan Williams and will like add a RB in the draft.

His total yards from scrimmage in the running game is 4247 in seven years. Murray's is 4526 in four.

With his speed his longest from scrimmage was 70 yards. Murray, the slower of thew two, and an aspect you harp on was 91 yards.

He has averages 4.1 per carry while Murray has averaged 4.8.

He has posted 1 1000 yard season. The other six seasons he has not broken 708 yards.

He averages 11 games a year where he can suit up.

You have been one of the more vocal proponents of Murray leaving. I don't suspect even with that becoming reality you endorse McWastrel, but even so, you are here defending him against a real rushing threat using this fumble category and speed ti suggest he has an upside Murray does not.

There is absolutely nothing about Darren McFadden which suggests he could carry Murray's jock strap.

You would barely know the name DeMarco Murray if he was drafted by the Raiders.

Wiw, even though I was addressing someone else, your answer was a dodge and a straw man argument with the assumption you know what I would or would not know.

If the roles were reversed when drafted. McFadden would be on the open market like he is now. Unfortunately Murray was on the open market because the people running this organization cannot do the math on how long Romo has to play in this league, therefore cannot envision the window is now, and not with a guy who could not make it in Oakland..

Nobody makes it in Oakland. That's the point. And Murray the ex-Raider would be an afterthought on the open market this year, whether you knew him or not.

Right now the Raiders are having trouble reaching the Salary Floor because nobody will take their money to go there.

I don't blame McFadden in the least if he shut it down there, which was my point. That franchise is a complete and total joke, and has been long before he came into the league.

Unless they get Peterson...don't think there's going to be a 'workhorse' RB this year. DMC is a piece of the puzzle & potentially a 3rd down option. Whoever opens the game would of course technically be the 'starter'.

The Boys built their running game around essentially 1 guy last season...taking a big gamble that Murray would be able to play all 16 games, despite never previously doing so.

I think you are what you are, as Parcells would say.

He's had trouble staying healthy in his career and has average less than 4 yards per carry the last three seasons.

I have a lot of trouble just believing changing teams is going to be the magic cure-all. I'd love for it to happen, but I can't trust in it to happen. If we get quality competition for him, such as an early draft pick, then I can see taking the chance that he might be more than what he's been for several seasons in Oakland.

Get it right with the back we pick.

This is crucial.

Get the right one, we keep going.

Get the wrong one, everything we did last year is a mirage.

It is a big deal.

You can't just plug it with McFadden and whatever.

I think DMC could be very successful if he can stay healthy. I realize that's like saying Lee could be great if he could stay healthy, but I honestly think he's gonna have a good year here. Who's to blame him if was never that motivated with Oakland?

DMC will start over any rookie. No way we are starting a 4-5 rounder at RB and expecting him to help keep Romo safe. I hope to God we don't go back to that rotation garbage. You seem how that has worked for us in the past. If we give DMC a chance, he will be successful. Only better option at this point would be AD...
