your out of touch if you think they didn't want to retain: Murray, Harris and Durant. Reality is if Dallas had more cap space they would have retained those three.

It seems as if your argument is that you don't want to overpay some players so you can overpay others? We weren't ever going to give Murray, Harris and Durant the deals they got, irrespective of how much cap space we had.

So? That's not a bad cap number for a Qb of Romo's caliber given the level of importance of QB play in this league. I don't care what his cap charge was before today. It was not what prevented us from retaining Murray. If it was we would have restructured him 3 weeks ago.

they couldn't because they needed a pass rusher and they knew it was going to cost them plus they know they have Dez contract on horizon. I don't have problem with QB making more than rest but there has to be some fiscal responsibility to it. Dallas could have offered Romo less and he would still be cowboy.

They were never going to pay 8m for Murray. The rumor is they went to 6m but who knows.
No way they give Durant 3 years or 10m with Lee coming back
DHarris for 17m is a complete joke

And you say I'm out of touch.......ha

Well, why not restructure Romo's contract earlier in order to keep them?

because Dallas was going to try and get out from that monolith of contract over next 2 years. Push came to shove and Dallas finally capitulated when Carr wouldn't reduce his salary and McClain visited NE. It what happens when your leveraged to the tilt.....u end up kicking the can down the road and inevitably absorb dead money hits later. Dallas was just now getting out from that mess.

If we really wanted to we could have signed Hardy, Murray and signed the linebackers we did

if romo wasn't geting paid so much I do believe Dallas would have went as high as 7 million and I think Murray accepts that.

We can cut him as soon as next year with a net addition to our cap space. Now we probably won't do that because the value he brings us currently at the Quarterback position outweighs any cap gains earned from releasing him.

He is just arguing to argue. Did you see my list above? That is over 50m in cap space signed this offseason. They could have done anything they wanted to.

They still can make another 20m if they really wanted.

Yep. Haven't even touched Carr, Witten or Lee's contract yet.

wrong again. Romo right now carries the highest potential dead money cap hit in NFL history at about 47 million. To cut him next year (for whatever reason) would be disastrous.

Designate him a June 1st cut and we get 8 million in cap room.

If he retires or gets hurt his large base salaries also retire and like winward said it can be spread over 3 years.

ok....so your taking 40 million dead money hit then? what color is sky in your world?

We get 8 million more in cap room in by designating him a June 1st cut than if he were to be on the roster in 2016.

I don't see how you don't grasp this concept.
