It seems as if your argument is that you don't want to overpay some players so you can overpay others? We weren't ever going to give Murray, Harris and Durant the deals they got, irrespective of how much cap space we had.

So? That's not a bad cap number for a Qb of Romo's caliber given the level of importance of QB play in this league. I don't care what his cap charge was before today. It was not what prevented us from retaining Murray. If it was we would have restructured him 3 weeks ago.

I don't have problem with QB making more than rest but there has to be some fiscal responsibility to it. Dallas could have offered Romo less and he would still be cowboy.

because Dallas was going to try and get out from that monolith of contract over next 2 years. Push came to shove and Dallas finally capitulated when Carr wouldn't reduce his salary and McClain visited NE. It what happens when your leveraged to the tilt.....u end up kicking the can down the road and inevitably absorb dead money hits later. Dallas was just now getting out from that mess.

If he retires or gets hurt his large base salaries also retire and like winward said it can be spread over 3 years.
