Tend to agree. You might land a Ajayi or a Weldon if you got lucky in the 3rd with a deep RB Draft.... but ALL DAY for ALL IN on Tony Romo, probably makes this team a lot better.

You don't trade for Peterson. You don't take on that contract. He won't put us in the Super Bowl becaue we still need to much help on defense.

I agree with the contract statement but if they traded a 3rd for him, it would be a wash vs drafting a RB. Use the 1st and 2nd picks on D.

APs contract is a cap killer and will likely be a major issue in a year or two.

I dont see how, given the situation we now have at RB, the siutation we have with Romos window, and the fact we were a few plays away from the Super Bowl last year, Dallas doesnt make a serious offer for AP.

Our only competition is Arizona it seems...............whoever offers the most gets AP.

I would offer a 2nd this year and a 3rd next year that could become a 2nd based on incentives.....................that is more than a fair trade for Minny.

It's not simply 'offering the most', it's being able to work out a negotiated contract with Peterson.

And if the reports are accurate (and judging by tons of sources they are!), he wants to finish his career playing for the Cowboys. That means he can simply refuse to agree to a contract with the Cardinals, effectively ending their chances for a trade and ensuring that it's Dallas or nowhere.

At that point, the options for the Vikings are force and disgruntled player to play for you, while paying him $15 million, or cut him and get nothing.

That kind of gives the Cowboys a significant advantage in this process if you ask me.

well, thats easy. Behind this offensive line we can just plug and play and pick someone up in the draft...

so why even use a valuable draft choice on a RB? Just pick someone up off a PS...or just a guy looking for a roster spot...

Nobody is taking on AP's current contract, including the Vikings. So they have two options, trade him and get something or cut him and get nothing. He's told them he's not reworking his contract to stay in Minnesota, which is why he and his agent are campaigning to move on as soon as possible.

I see the deal, any negative 'what if's' about Peterson are treated as facts, while any 'what if's' about unproven rookies should be disregarded and swept under the rug.

Romo's current restructured contract is also a 'cap killer', and this team should expect to pay $16 million plus in dead money after Romo is gone. And they're prepared to do that. And Peterson's new deal would likely add another $6 - $8 million in dead money after he's gone too.

The good news is at that point, both players' replacements will be rookies playing on minimal rookie deals so the dead money wouldn't be the cap killer many are fearing.

By then romo will be retiring and we will be garbage anyways. I'd rather make a push for the ring he deserves now. I've said in another thread I'd only do it if ap takes a paycut and incentive based deal.
