They are lumped together because they have multiple and big off the field red flags and issues. Now with Brent, he not only killed his best friend drinking and driving, but he failed at least one other test when he was on probation. So he continued to drink and drive.

Im also for the signing of Hardy and the drafting of Gregory.

But lets also throw Randle in there. Stealing underwear? Cmon.............Bellichek would have cut him the next day. And certainly a guy like Mcclain that quit football after his a couple years in the league cant be the RKG that loves football right?

You are horrible with facts. Brent tested positive for marijuana he did not get caught for continuing to drink and drive. Please stop with this nonsense. It was testing required by his bail conditions.

I guess you cant have a conversation without cursing on throwing out insults. Did my comment hurt your feewings that bad? Poor guy.

Hey listen, Im going to make my point real easy for you.

...........I could care less if they are legal or automatic. They are guns. Period, end of story. And when you beat your girl, choke her, and then throw her on the guns, then that to me does not seem like the RKG. Now if you think that is the RKG that Garrett means, then you are fooling yourself.

You can still like Garrett and admit that is RKG mantra is not what the people in control always look for. Its about winning, not about listening to Garrett. Lets all be happy that Garrett is no longer in control of the offense. We see what could happen the first year he was no longer calling the shots there.

Am all for the signing my man. I love the Hardy signing. And Jerry and stephen worked out a brilliant contract. My point was simply that Hardy is not Garretts RKG. If he says he is, then he's lying.

It seems to me that you haven't had the correct definition of RKG all this time. Like you thought it meant not having any off the field problems or legal issues, and so when the Cowboys signed Hardy, Ro and drafted Gregory, you assumed they weren't RKG by definition.

They are the RKG though. They love the game of football, work hard at it, and winning is very important to them.

Albert Haynesworth was never a RKG because he didn't love football and was lazy. Lawrence Taylor was a coke-head and was constantly having issues, but he was a RKG because football was everything to him and he wanted to be the best.

Legal issues were never a part of the equation. Only something that has to be worked through so they are available to play football. If they continue to have legal issues they won't be available to play football, so they won't have any worth to the team.

I don't know why you feel like it was good to get Hardy, Gregory, etc. because they will help the team so much and then at the same time think that Garrett did not want them for the same reason.

That changes everything.

The guns weren't "automatic" and he failed a "drug" test.

RKG for sure.

And Randle and McClain are they the RKG also? Just wondering your opinion on that. And lets go by the obvious definition of what the RKG is, not the squirming, laughable answer that Garrett gave after he was backed into the corner.

Your inability to read is amazing.

It may not have come out yet as "official" (nor should it as it is a private issue), but it certainly looks like it to me. He has mentioned anxiety before and that is how/why he smoked marijuana. I do not think he is part of the subculture that glorifies marijuana, not in the least. That distinguishes him a great deal from a lot of the gang bangers and the like that do.

Personally I don't think the bi-polar label should be thrown out without definitive proof. It's irresponsible for anyone to do that. Think about someone else throwing that out about you.

It is truly amazing that RKG is still misunderstood on this forum.

it's just brought out and dusted off when the jr high people are bored and need to just get reactions with other things they knowingly misrepresent.

That Jason Garrett is little more then a puppet and figure head. For all his RKG parroting, the Cowboys dont follow it. I applaud Garrett for helping make some changes in the way the Cowboys do things, but we all saw what the offense was like when he was in full command. And without our two great coordinators to run the football side of things, Garrett would have been jobless right now.

.

So McClain that quit football after a few years in the league, does he "love the game of football"? Is he the RKG?

As far as hardy and Gregory, they are not the RKG by any definition. Now if Garrett wants to feed you a load of nonsense about it ONLY being on the field stuff, then its up to you if you want to believe that. I'm not buying it.

RKG means someone that does the "right" things all the time. Clearly they dont always look for those type of people.

Then 50% of the players in the NFL wouldn't be in the NFL.

Holy hell, I've not witnessed such an embarrassing performance on here in a long time.

If you didn't get it with the explanation that I posted... then you aren't going to get it. Or, you simply hate Garrett and are trying to be contrary.

So, I'm out. Have a good time hating the coach for the next five years.

RKG is more about football character, I think that was the buzzword for the draft this year. You have shown your ignorance automatic weapons, if you know anything about guns automatic weapons while are legal are extremely hard to get since you can only own ones made prior to 1986. Were you in the apartment during the alleged incident with Hardy? Are you the NFL's star witness but nowhere to be found for the trial. Jerry has always been a supporter of his players regardless of the mistake following your logic Irvin would never have played another down in a Dallas uniform after his hookers and blow incident. So now people with mental illness should be branded and shamed never to be a productive member of society, as for the pot use this is a 20 something kid in today's age, if anything it shows immaturity. So please O wise one show us the path of perfection so that we know your stones can righteously break my glass walls.

Cerainly on the field stuff is all in there. AS is off the field, people they can TRUST to be leaders, non criminals/knuckleheads.

A few observations:

1) It's no wonder we have a strong tendency under G to draft team captains. He wants leaders. Leaders usually have the 3 qualities, that's why they are respected enough to be leaders.

2) It's football character, not just character. They want players who will show up ready to work. Who the coach can trust to do their jobs. That's why a few past incidents (by 18-20 year olds, no less) do not disqualify them (Dez, DLaw, Boyd etc). When the Cowboys do blacklist a criminal or knucklehead, I bet they lack this kind of football character, too -- missed meetings, showing up late, not giving full effort.

3) It's interesting how McClay uses "competes" like a noun. The player must have "competes." This is probably just a way to label it, but it's clear they value players who are competitive, who have that fire, because it drives the other things, it's the desire -- as McClay articulates. We want "ballers," dudes who step up in the lime light, Prime Times.

4) I'm REALLY impressed with McClay after this interview!

Since you dont get it, here is Will Clay talking all about it.
