This is why it didn't make sense to me why a team didn't just use a 7th round pick on him. Why not secure his services in the event he's innocent?

I thought the same thing, round after round after the 4th round it would worth the risk.

He would be stupid not to sign here..

He walks in and is the starting right tackle on the best OLine in the NFL.

Maybe because his agent said he wouldn't sign and would just re-enter the draft next year?

I don't think he'd be starting right away unless Free isn't healthy to start the season. But he'd be right behind Free. The interesting fight will be Green against Leary.

Public perception. Which doesn't make sense to me. We KNOW what Hardy did and are ignoring it. If you drafted Collins and it turns out he was guilty you say whoops we took a chance he was completely innocent and since he's a murderer we cut him and obviously don't support his murdering ways.

Very fair gamble

Wait... I've read over and over the Cowboys wouldn't have any shot at him, and weren't even interested because he didn't come in for a visit.

Wait!!! An internet tweet invalidates all of that now doesnt it!!!

Yeah but it was announced during the draft that the league said he couldn't re-enter the draft next year. Teams had to know that.

It makes me think the Commish told the teams not to draft him. I just can't believe every single team decided this gamble wasn't worth a 7th round pick.

Is he guaranteed to be better than Free as a rookie? Free is an above average RT in this league who just happens to be playing next to 3 All Pros so he gets overlooked. Same for Leary. I hope we do get Collins and that he'll be our starting RT for the next 10 years. But I'm not convinced any rookie comes in and plays better than Free or Leary. It would be awesome to have a starting O-line for Smith-Green-Frederick-Martin-Collins from 2016 to 2026. But a starting O-line of Smith-Leary-Frederick-Martin-Free might be our best option for 2015.

We always say stuff like this but free would have some trade value midseason right ?

Lol at Free..

Free is our new swing tackle or possibly cut if we sign this guy.

Free dreams of being this type of talent.

I won't say anything bad about Free because the dude is a trooper and has done everything the Cowboys have asked of him and he is a leader on that line but, yes, Collins has a lot more natural talent.

He isn't dumb... he knows we have a lot invested in Free and that Free probably isn't cut out to be an OG

Collins contract is going to be so cheap it doesn't matter if they overpay Free to back up or release or trade him at some other date. This guy would solidify either RT or LG for some time.

That's what I'm thinking. Teams knew he wouldn't play for them if they drafted him in rounds 3-7, and teams probably didn't think it was safe to draft him in rounds 1-2 in case there was something to the murder investigation. A safe round would have been 4-5 but then they'd be wasting a draft pick.
