Could R Willams be our secret weapon?

Correction. Brady beat Seattle. Brady got Patriots in the playoffs. Their entire team revolves around Brady and not their running.

Stop making it as though their running game is an integral part of their offense. Its not. Thus their runningback stats speak for themselves.

They didn't win game because of their running. They won because of Brady. Get it?

I don't get oversimplifications nor put any stock in them. I would say that the improved defense, the addition of Blount, and many factors contributed to them winning as well.

Totally agree, I think this could be the best OL ever in football. I love getting Collins. Wouldn't it be great to have 4 all-pro OL on the Cowboys. Go Cowboys :starspin:

Yes its not farfetch to say we might become the greatest oline in football. Even Collins believed in those sentiments also.

That would be unbelievable if Collins becomes a probowler this year. That would be back to back rookie probowlers as a linemen - which I believe never, ever happened before.

LOL we ran the ball because of Garrett wanted it. Linehan agreed and saw the plays drawn up by Callahan. Then everything else just fell into place.

Garrett wanted to go back to the way of the 90s and play smashmouth football and had nothing to do with our oline's inabilities to pass protect. Frankly, thats one the most silliest ideas that I've ever heard.

I can't even see Jerry saying "thank God we can't pass protect. That allowed up to run more."

The two notions are not mutually exclusive. I don't deny what you say but it does not preclude concern over pass protection. I remember Romo getting hit early and often versus SF, STL, TN, Seattle, WAS, and others. The question isn't whether it was a concern as much of how much of a concern it was.

The ancillary of this is that with better pass pro we will be able to give Romo a clean pocket and pass more. The team is going to change but that doesn't mean it is doomed to failure.

The current SB champs made a championship run using that exact strategy. Veldheer and Blount oh my.

They started with Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Brandon Bolden and drafted James White in the 4th.

LBlount was a top round talent but was a headcase. NE always got a lot out of him, but he wasn't the PLAN.

And we are starting with McFadden, Randle and Dunbar but we already had Ryan Williams on the roster.

Blount wasn't the plan but going into the season with that stable certainly was. I would take our current guys over those 4 you listed.

Uncertainty and anticipation is a *****.

He's a talented player. He's probably going to be in competition with Dunbar for a roster spot barring injury.

If he learned how to pick up the blitz, help out in pass protection and stay healthy then maybe.

Those are some pretty big question marks though.

Just when you think you know the answer to the question, the Cowboys change the question.

He didn't miss any pass pro pickups in the preseason; second half of preseason game caveats obviously apply. I don't think draft reports from 4 years ago are representative of where he is now.

He needs to do what Dunbar does in ST or something similar. That was the other guy back on punt and kick returns leading for the returner and middle coverage on coverage. The bar is not particularly high as Dunbar due to poor spatial awareness and a diminutive size wasn't very good at any of that. If he can return kicks he makes the team almost certainly.

You would really take DMC, Randle, RWilliams, Dunbar over Ridley, Vereen, Bolden and White

I think Vereen is the best of that group and Ridley is probably second best.

Vereen I'd put on par with what we have. I only am certain he is better than Dunbar.

I've never been impressed by Ridley. He's not athletic particularly at his size.

I think Williams is going to surprise a lot of people.

Ryan Williams is only a secret in the sense that we don't know how long he can remain healthy nor if he will eventually learn to block as need be. Those things aren't exactly very well-kept secrets. I wish him well, though. His ability as a runner isn't a secret, nor is it being questioned much after last year's TC.

Fair enough , perhaps the title should have stated "surprise weapon"

With all due respect, yessir, he may (or may not) become a pleasant surprise. Right now, I'd say he's probably mostly like our "untested" weapon but than again, we might say that about several of our RBs -- what with our ever-improving offensive line. Sorry, maybe I'm creatively splitting hairs with all the adjectives. One thing's for sure -- we hardly know exactly what to expect with most of 'em. Perhaps we could simply refer to them as the "what'll they do crew" (not only descriptive but it rhymes.)

Well said indeed sir, Brady is a great leader and QB.

Brady took them down two straight drives for TDs. SEA would have never needed that miracle finish if their Defense held up.

Brady sliced and diced them all game.

Brady still didn't win them the game. Seattle lost it. Greatest choke job of all time.
