Teams take risk as well when they sign these players to big long term contracts with guaranteed money, if the player retires or injured the team is still on the hook for a lot of money even though the player got his. Ratliff got his money then all of a sudden he is not playing, he wants out and Dallas lost the money that was guaranteed. So don't act as if the players are the only ones take any risk.
He is a 30 year old RB Minn guaranteeing him a good portion of the remaining 47 mill would be beyond stupid.
Minn in my view paid him a king’s ransom and a lot of guaranteed money they did their part
Minnesota got what they paid for. He generated more than they have given him. If a player retires they have to return a portion of the signing bonus in many cases.
They are in a no win situation really.
Can you really see a scenario where they keep him this year and not give in at all? I cant.
