If he misses time he may never get a deal at least not with the Cowboys. If this gets ugly he could end up being traded.

If he misses time then he may be hoping that he never gets the deal from the Cowboys.
This could get ugly. I don't like to see us in this position.

Adrian Peterson was talking just as tough until he lost leverage and realized it was going to cost him money. The same thing will happen here, mark my words.

Missing time will do nothing but hurt him and the team if he does that it's going to get nasty.

Not my question. I am saying what if Dez and his camp piss off our executives and they want to teach him a lesson. Basically saying "we don't want you".

Just a hypothetical

Then trade him to someone who wants him, and will pay him. someone like Jacksonville. they still have lot's of cap space. they need a big time WR, and will pay Dez what he wants i believe.

A player's value is determined just like our value is. If you could get a bigger offer to switch jobs then you are worth more than you were previously.
The cowboys using a franchise tag is a weapon they have that avoids Dez getting what his real value would be on an open market.
His value isn't being set by these negotiations because we are negotiating against ourselves due to the FO having the dreaded Franchise Tag.

Release him to the open market and see what his value is.

You let somebody else pay open market price. That's what the Jets and Buccanneers do. That's why they're the Jets and Bucs.

Still can't trade him, no tag signed in this instance.

Exactly. I think a deal will be completed before the deadline on Wednesday and he'll be in camp ready to go.

That is my hope but I also think if by chance they can't get it done by the timeline that Dez will still play under the tag. outside if Sean Gilbert no player has walked away from a franchise tag and that was 11 years ago.

The Jags could offer him a deal. I believe the Cowboys have applied the None Exclusive tag, which allows for other teams to negotiation with Dez. If the Jags wanted to pay for him, they could do it right now.

Economics say you're wrong because of the Calvin Johnson deal. That is the new barometer for wide receivers, fair or not. I personally don't want to give him the Calvin Johnson deal. I would hate that like you, but somehow, some way, Dez is going to get a large amount of money. It's up to Dallas if it's going to come from them.

Calvin Johnson is not the new barometer. Calvin is a freak with no one in his category. Also, it's not just up to Dallas. Both Jerry and Dez have kept a deal from being finalized.

After what Jacksonville went through with Justin Blackmon I doubt they would risk a lot of money on Dez. The Cowboys know Dez better than anyone and they don't want to risk a lot of money on him which is why this situation could get ugly.

As longas heget's paid, i don't think he would mind. but make no mistake. he want's to be a life time Dallas Cowboys.

He said a while back not to test his loyalty we'll find out how much he wants to be a Cowboy.

Dez is a great player. Nobody would argue that. But don't you guys think the Market has probably figured itself out on Dez? I mean, if what we were offering him was so out of line, don't you think another team would have already stepped up and offered him a better deal?

They would take Dez in a NY moment.
