Anyone still thinks this leads to an Adrian Peterson signing?

That the Dez signing frees up additional cap space for one more BIG addition to the team...say a BIG NAME RB from up NORTH who WANTS to be in Dallas?

The reason no teams really tried to trade for him was because the did not want to both give up picks AND pay what he is scheduled to make with the Vikings.

He was allowed to talk to other teams and would have had to take a pay cut in order to get traded. He decided he preferred the money to getting away from the Vikings.

The Cowboys always have the option to trade for a RB Is none of the current guys on the roster can get the job done. The Vikings would likely take the same picks that they would have taken this off-season, but it's more likely the Cowboys would trade for a guy like Lamar Miller if he is not the #1 RB for the Dolphins this year.

Randle is not expected to be a 3rd down back. He is expected to compete with McFadden to be the starter.

Randle was very good in his limited opportunities in 2014.

McFadden still looked physically very good in 2014, but the Raiders have terrible blocking and they don't have the passing threat to prevent defenses from loading up against the run. McFadden is also a better pass blocker than Murray.

Ryan Williams was terrific in the preseason last year as a runner, but his blocking and lack of ST ability held him back. They had him focused on blocking for the entire year that he has been with the team. If he can stay healthy, he has a chance to be a decent backup.

Dunbar is a player that Garrett loves for his work ethic and ability to be a WR if needed.

IIRC, Murray had over 800 yards gained before 1st contact last season. With that type of blocking there should be many RBs that can have success. From my review of his 2014 game footage, McFadden rarely ever had any yards gains before 1st contact. For him 1st contact was normally in the backfield.

Who do you see as trade targets other than Miller?

I have not really reviewed the possibilities.

Miller is in the final year of his contract and there was speculation that the Dolphins won't re-sign him for some reason. I don't know if they would really trade him because they seem to be going all in to win now considering the Suh mega-mega contract, but I also don't know why they would not be expected to re-sign him.

The Cowboys would have to over-pay in compensation if they had to trade for a player during the season, but it could be done if that position was really holding them back. I think the RBs they have will be fine considering the blocking and the passing threat that will prevent 8 man fronts.

For most positions, I would not see a trade as a likely fall back option, but RB is one where teams will move on from good players under the right circumstances.

Minn felt that way right before they did the deal for Walker.

Yeah, and they were wrong. But who thinks with AP behind this line we don't go to the SB? It would take a major injury or some flukey stuff to keep us out.

No, he would guarantee nothing.

For those actually watching our games over the last decade, it's the defense that has stopped us from doing very much. That first year Wade's defense was in the top 10 we went 13-3. Save the money and see if we can't keep Hardy for a few years. The Giants won 2 super bowls with a great pass rush and a decent offense (and a few lucky plays).

He might but there are no assurances and in the meantime giving up top picks for a 30 year old RB no I would not. People talk about Romo window well chances are we will need future picks to package a deal to get a top QB so in the meantime I would not be looking to get rid of 1st rd picks and Minn is not going to take less than multiple picks.

Romo window is closing the Cowboys window closes when they do stupid things

We are now 12m under the cap with Hardy and Dez done deals.

There is room to add him if he is released, but we can't and shouldn't trade for him.

He would have to give us a big pay cut, like 3/21m.

But it looks like they have kissed and made up.

That is how these things normally go, words are said it is over and all is well. I think it really came down to Peterson trying to get more guaranteed money than anything else. Vikes wanted him and publicly said so time and again.

Whoever said that you can't have a steak at every position... most certainly wasn't a Cowboy fan.

SAFE BET STARTER: Adrian Peterson, Zach Line

The return of Peterson was without question the Vikings’ biggest offseason move. There were questions whether Peterson would report to mandatory minicamp, or even training camp, but the 2012 NFL MVP came back to Winter Park during OTAs after his suspension was uplifted by the NFL. Peterson has transitioned back with the team seamlessly, and he’ll be the focal point of this offense again despite quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s emergence during the final five games of his rookie season.

We’ll see if Peterson, 30, will need to participate in a preseason game after his suspension, but everyone around the organization expects him to have a huge year. He won’t have Jerome Felton, who signed with the Bills, around as his fullback. Zach Line, in his third season, will likely exit camp as the starting fullback.

This was posted 3 hours ago in the Minneapolis paper. The boat hasn't just sailed; it's already out the Gulf.

No I have not. Haven't experienced a win either.

I've experienced 2 of the Cowboys 3 SB losses and trust me a SB loss is the most PAINFUL loss you'll ever suffer through as a fan unless you were around for the 1981 NFC title game loss. I would rather the Cowboys lose prior to reaching the SB than to lose in the SB. A SB loss tears your guts out.
