A guy they paid 200K to stay on the practice squad last season is gonna get cut for roster space right before training camp when they can bring 90 guys to camp?

This has to be related to his availability for camp, but it really bums me out to see Williams cut. I was pulling for him, loved his personality and his rushing style.

My guess is, he got cleared to play, and they released him before he got hurt again and had to pay an injury settlement.

Or, they've got somebody else lined up and want to get him signed before somebody else does.

They likely expect his knee is going to land him on IR. You eat the bonus instead of having to pay the entire deal.

Allegedly on special teams.

When they have to play meaningful snaps on defense, it hurts the team. Just my opinion.

There are guys that were/are Special teams aces (Bill Bates, Steve Tasker, Justin Bethel) that can actually contribute at their position. Lawrence, Heath, and especially McCray are liabilities on the field.

Heath actually replaced Church in some obvious passing situations last season. He is much better on defense than McCray.
