Keep an eye on Matt Forte. I think a trade could benefit both because the Bears are going nowhere this year.

Bears gotta eat some of that salary though.

We're in the same wavelength here. I think the Jennings cut by the Bears shows that they're looking towards the future and rebuilding. Trading away Forte would be in line with that.

But they would have to agree to take on some of that salary.

A draft pick and some savings is better than no draft pick and no savings.

jackson would be nice pick up he is familiar with the RBBC approach though in buffalo the committee has been a lot less due to injuries to either CJ or Fred.

Running back Fred Jackson was unexpectedly dropped on the free agent market Monday.

Don’t look for the Cowboys to pursue him.

A source said the club has no interest in Jackson at this time. The idea is to go into the season with a committee of Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar handling the ground game.

I'll say this. I've been more inclined to buy into the idea that with this OL, we can muster an effective running game with what we have and that we didn't need to overpay for Murray.

That being said, it's puzzling that the front office has no desire to even attempt some improvement, especially when they've invested so much in other areas to make a run over the next 2-3 seasons.

I don't get the love they have in Dunbar. I mean, they don't even consider him starter material - it's been Randle or McFadden. So how can't Jackson be an upgrade on that? I don't get it.

it's not so much that I don't have faith in the RBBC or in Randle or McFadden. But I don't see a battering ram on this roster. One thing Murray was good as was that if there wasn't a hole, he was still going to plow ahead and just shove the DL a few yards. I have no conviction that any of our guys can do that. And I'm sorry, but those 2-4 yards matter in the running game. There is a world of difference between 2nd and 6 vs. 2nd and 9.

I'm with you. I have been wanting Sproles for a while. When he went to New Orleans...we were told we did not need him because we had Felix Jones. Then when he went to the Eagles...we were told we did not need him because we had Dunbar. All he does is make plays and give defenses a headache when he is on the field. What exactly has Felix or Dunbar done?????? I want someone in the backfield that is a professional football player READY to make game changing plays. I never like Felix Jones...because he struck me as a player overwhelmed with the NFL experience. He always seemed to me like a player whose dreams were fulfilled when he MADE it to the NFL....he did not have dreams of EXCELLING in the NFL. And not to my surprise...he was average at best and quickly out of the NFL. And I am not sure what to make of Dunbar. If you "like" a guy so much..why does he not ever see the field. We did the same thing with David Arkin. It annoys me to no end when we do this!

Jackson had 500 yards rushing last year (granted 3.7 ypc) and caught 66 balls for a terrible Bills offense. Not sure how one can argue that Dunbar would be more valuable than that.

The only thing Dunbar has on Jackson is age. But when you are talking 3rd string TB, does age really matter all that much?

I hope Dallas isn't waiting for a Christine Michael or someone to fall into their lap, Jackson is a better all around RB than anyone on our roster. If McFadden goes down who's picking up blitzes?

This is a no brainer unless they have something else in the works. Right now we have two injury prone RBs and a screen catcher as our RB committee. If you swap Dunbar for Jackson, you now have three legitimate RBs that could emerge and if one or two are injured, you still have a guy that can carry the load. I'd get this done over lunch today.

RANDLE SUCKS - I would accept FRED ALL DAY over Randle. Fred is from TX and went to Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA - Never entitled anything. We need Fred's character in DALLAS

There is no taking on the salary in NFL trades.
Forte would just be cut to save money and become a FA.
That's why NFL trades are so few and far between.

Forte could agree to give up some money on an extension and then trades but there's not really a way for Chicago to pay it.
At least that helps them in any way

Jackson should be our 3rd down back. Period.

Randle doesn't suck and Jackson wouldn't be in competition with Randle he would be in competition with Dunbar

Dunbar has literally been given no chance here. Neither has Randle for that matter.

I don't get all the anti-Dunbar sentiment. The guy has barely played. They rode Murray into the ground and tossed him aside. Now we get to see what these guys can do.

Dunbar has hit some big plays with limited time.
