Since Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden are unlikely to play in the preseason finale Thursday night, the Cowboys will head into the regular season with some questions regarding their running back situation.

Injuries have limited both backs from running away with the bell cow role DeMarco Murray held in 2014.

During a Monday radio interview Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones stopped short of saying the team was set at the position.

“We got three backs here that we like a lot,” Jones told the G-Bag Nation show on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “If we saw a young back to add to the mix, we’d certainly look at it. But what we’ve seen on the wires so far, we’re pretty content with what we got. That doesn’t mean that won’t change here in the next week or so.”

I have a strong feeling if Rawls is cut, he will be added. Conversely I have a strong feeling if Michael is cut, that he won't be

Not really sure who we could bring in that's "young" that could really help us out... guess it won't hurt though. But if McFadden/Randle aren't playing at all for the last preseason game I'd like to see us give Dunbar 15 or so carries and see what he can do. We've never really seen him with a real workload, only on special teams and sporadically in certain situations on offense.

Good idea with Dunbar, but will Wetzel and crew be the OLine?

Why should they rule it out. What's here isnt awe inspiring.

Still trying to understand how Seattle's trash would be our treasure.

Rawls is physical. They do intened on going with a commitee he would be a much better fit the Dunbar. I dont think he is a world beater, but I think he is good enough to get carries

Nothing new here
That's what they have said all camp
Bottom line is they like what they have
If something better comes around they will look at it. But since it's not likely to happen I wouldn't get too excited
To add a back you have to cut someone somewhere else because it doesn't appear they plan on cutting any of the 3 you have
So when you look at a guy to add you have to consider can he contribute on special teams? Is he better than the last DT or oline guy?
Face it, they aren't cutting Dunbar because he contributes on special teams

What is that Dunbar does on special teams? I'm not trying to be argumentive.... Just wondering cuz I really don't see much.

This is a franchise that apparently has significant emotional capital in Lance Dunbar.

What makes you believe they would take a look at a UDFA cut and decide he was worth bringing aboard?

Not downing your opinion of Rawls or whatever, I just see what this organization does every year. And they are predictable when it comes to roster composition.

I doubt that, Cowboys go outside of the D-BOX all the time to make the roster, Hardy, McClain, Weeden and DMac are some recent ploys.

Face it, Dallas knows full well the need at RB and it won't be a surprise when the Front Office signs one before the Season.

As far as RB goes, I would be extremely shocked if they admitted failure.

:huh:Don't be too shocked, HARDY for the inability for Drafting DE, MCLAIN for Lee, to an extent Gregory=Moss

Rightnow, the need to admit a failure in Brandon Weeden, that would be a good start.;)

I know what Jerruh thinks about RB.."If they're healthy, I'll take the skill and what (DMAC, Joseph the burglar Randle, Lance Dumbar) can bring to our offense. I'll take that and go against the Giants and won't ask for any more,"..that's not necessarily what the Front Office is going to do. look for a RB to be added within 10 Days.

I honestly wouldnt be surprised if they went 4 deep at HB. If you want to hold onto Dunbar you pretty much have to IMO

Only for the practice squad.
