I've read Montee Ball could be cut by the Broncos.

That would be an intriguing option given his pedigree and experience running in a zone blocking scheme @ Wisconsin.

9 News Denver's Mike Klis does not believe Broncos RB Montee Ball will make the final roster.
Ball has been steadily falling down the depth chart all offseason and played behind Juwan Thompson in the third preseason game. Ball should get one more shot in the fourth preseason game to show his worth, but right now his job is anything but secure. Sep 1 - 9:36 AM

Still trying to understand how Seattle's trash would be our treasure.

Well, they are much stronger at that particular position than we are.
Odds that they may have a better player deeper in their depth chart isn't really a stretch.

well this fire only needed a little gas. :)

then again i hope we do. dunbar is a role player and after all these opportunities if he's still #3, that's all he will ever be. when RBs start getting cut that are young and promising i'm sure we'll give 'em a look and add around this time. i've felt all along that they knew what FAs were out there when this started and if none were signed, they wouldn't be despite the BUT XXX TEAM IS GONNA TAKE 'EM!!!

let 'em have the dude.

but for all the fuss and turmoil and gut wrenching people have done they were never going to sign another "look at me you know my name so therefor we 'fixed the glitch' and are set!" player despite the constant (way too constant) calls for it. so yea, depending on who's cut i can see someone higher up on the order coming in and dunbar going out.

Nothing new here
That's what they have said all camp
Bottom line is they like what they have
If something better comes around they will look at it. But since it's not likely to happen I wouldn't get too excited
To add a back you have to cut someone somewhere else because it doesn't appear they plan on cutting any of the 3 you have
So when you look at a guy to add you have to consider can he contribute on special teams? Is he better than the last DT or oline guy?
Face it, they aren't cutting Dunbar because he contributes on special teams

Dunbar is a JAG. A perpetual JAG project that contributes nothing on special teams. If a strong prospect gets cut, say bye bye to the perpetual pet JAG.

Dunbar, Hayden, and T. McClain, for the life of me, I can't figure why the club is sold on them.

Dunbar - is the shining example of injury prone, fumble prone, and can't break a block
Hayden - has Teflon coated skates surgically implanted on the bottom of his feet
T. McClain - is another walking injury. What has he done here... seriously.

People will point to Lee as the poster boy for injury prone but his ability puts him in the top 5 lb's in the league when he is on the field... Say that about T McClain in any way or fashion... go ahead I dare you. If you do then you should be slapped with the internet virtual glove.

In an effort to not completely hijack the thread and turn it into a Hayden bash fest.... Dunbar hasn't shown enough to warrant the patience with his injuries either. He makes mental mistakes, is too small to take on blitzers, and isn't really fast either... shifty yes, fast no.

What is that Dunbar does on special teams? I'm not trying to be argumentive.... Just wondering cuz I really don't see much.

In all likelihood, Dunbar will be the primary kickoff returner this season.

You and me both!

Nah, we have no interest in Fred Jackson, the guy the #1 rushing team in the league wants, but whatever they're throwing away? Yeah, sign us up for some of that!

Nothing but executive-speak here. We're going into the season with McFadden, Randle, and Dunbar.

If they stink up the joint big time, we'll probably look to make a trade, but I think anyone thinking we're going to be adding a running back is going to be disappointed.

I think Dallas is going to need an extra running back sometime this year. I am just not sold that Randle has the talent or overall skill to be a lead dog for a team who views itself as a playoff team. I don't view him more than a 10 carry a game guy.

With that being said, that doesn't mean Dallas needs to bring in every running back in off the streets or has been released. They just have to make the right decision on who they bring in. Most everyone will have a lot of warts but there will be a few guys out there who will prove they can play. It is a little tricky though. You want to find someone who has experience and is a professional who will know their role in pass protection and is reliable. On the other hand, you don't want that older veteran who is just trying to get a few last paychecks. You want a hungry guy who will run through a wall for you and will treat each game like his last.

I guess I don't understand why the guy they might sign has to be young? You aren't looking for a starter, you are looking for a 3rd RB, a situational guy. So what does it matter if the kid is 24 or 35? If you feel he can help you for a year or two, age shouldn't be a factor.

If they decide to keep Dunbar and bring the total to 4 RB's I think we only keep 4 WR's and Dunbar plays as the 5th WR if we need him.

Not saying the group of RBs we have can't do the job but I'm just encouraged that the DC FO is open-minded about churning the roster spots. 2 years ago, it may have been "secret sauce" or "last I looked, we have enough RB's" discussion.
On the other hand, if we're only going by what we see in these preseason games, I think we're over-reacting. Our play calling is vanilla. The Oline is not healthy, no outside WR threats like Dez playing. Romo only played a handful of downs otherwise, no QB threat. I think health is the concern with our current stable of RBs, not ability.
If we're going to change the roster, bring in some QB's and certainly some RB's if DMC and JoRan keep belly aching.
Just sayin

Robert Turbin has a severe ankle sprain, so Seattle went dumpster diving and got Jackson, who is a personal friend of Lynch's. Jackson is the "trash" compared to Turbin and Michael, or even Monte Ball, IMO.

I think it might the 3rd QB that gets axed in that scenario

Sure he is. And if Michael were reliable, the Seahawks wouldn't have to be "dumpster diving" for this "trash", would they? But here they are, jumping on him? Kinda shoots a gaping hole in your theory, doesn't it?

I don't have us keeping a 3rd QB anyway as I feel we don't currently have one worth the roster spot.
