We don't need him to start on Sunday. I agree he'll have a limited role, but even in that limited role he can help the Cowboys with his great speed.

Yes he can help with his speed. I don't expect much out of him this week.

One thing to consider about Butler being active: he played multiple special teams in Oakland, I believe. He might be active over Lucky because he can cover kicks, not just help return them. Plus, he can be deep threat on a few patterns just to keep coverage honest.

This tells me they don't like Street in the interim. Otherwise, they would have picked the best free agent available. Butler seems like a nice addition. But he was a 7th round pick (Street 5th I believe). Everyone else in the past has probably been in love with 4.37 speed, so why is that speed now going to be the reason he works things out for the 1st time in his career?

I still like the guy, but it makes me think that they don't have confidence in Street at all.

Well, I don't think they ever planned on Street being a WR1 to back up to Dez. Coming into the draft he was touted as a polished route runner with good hands but weak upper body strength (something like 3 reps on the bench) which doesn't help beating the jam or getting separation. I believe this was while we still didn't know what we had in Beasely, so Street was looking more like a slot reciever/WR2 in their eyes. At this point in time, Street will not demand any safety help when he is on the field, so he will not be filling the void that Dez is leaving. Could Butler? Possibly, if we can send him on fly routes till his wheels fall off and lob it up to him every once in awhile, it may be enough to keep the secondary honest in not stacking the box. IMO, that's what the coaching staff/FO has in mind with this pick-up over taking one of the indoctrinated "possession" receivers we've worked with in the off-season. Without Dez or a true deep threat, we can't impose our will on defensive coverages.

Just went over to Raiders to check on fans reactions and they love this kid. Bigtime Pet Cat over there for the majority!

Finally some speed!

Btw if you are over 30 and your name isn't Tom Brady or Rogers you are not coming to this team on McClays watch!

I hope I'm not the only one who's never heard of this guy in my life.

He is still sniping about moves the Cowboys make despite his failed past opinions on Hitchens and Tyrone Crawford.

You said Zack Martin was overrated coming out of college, and that Xavier S'ua-Filo and David Yankey had higher upside, and would be preferable to drafting Martin in the first round. I wouldn't be killing anyone for their "failed" past opinions if I offered that one up.

I hope it works out beyond that

Right it would work out for both if Romo could get another productive weapon in the WR Corps and Butler would get the benefit of being on a much better than the the Raiders. lol

If Reggie Wayne is willing to play here, he walks in ready to produce.

Belichick gave up quick on him, so I do not know. If he does not have any speed left, I do not see how he walks in ready to produce in this offense.

Wayne have up on the Pats if the reports are correct. I'm sure the feelings were pretty mutual tho.
