Why are people assuming he is a deep threat?

He is more middle of the road IMO.

Assuming everyone pulls their weight and performs, WR corp is set for a few years.

Dez Bryant, age 26, under contract thru 2019
Terrence Williams, age 26, under contract thru 2016
Cole Beasley, age 26, under contract thru 2018
Devin Street, age 24, under contract thru 2017
Brice Butler, age 25, under contract thru 2016

Apologies to Lucky Whitehead fans, I am not a fan.

You said Zack Martin was overrated coming out of college, and that Xavier S'ua-Filo and David Yankey had higher upside, and would be preferable to drafting Martin in the first round. I wouldn't be killing anyone for their "failed" past opinions if I offered that one up.

:lmao:

He's going to get some playing time. Who else are you going to put on the outside, Street?

What are the questions?

"How do you feel about cheating?"

"Tell us why the rules don't apply to you."

"If you could break the law, but get away with it, would you consider it illegal?"

I literally just LOLed

I think maybe the team is banking on the fact that their offensive schemes are fairly basic and it's more about letting players play. Maybe this guy was too hamstrung by a complicated playbook/schemes and couldn't really get on track as a result. Maybe with a simpler playbook, the guy will feel more comfortable and just play football.

Have you seen the Raiders? Complicated and scheme is not in their vocabulary

Cowboys need to release a practice clip of Butler flying down the field catching a Romo pass of 60 yards on the fly burning 2 safeties. Tony will then say, holy crap, 10 times in a row, can't anybody cover this guy! On Sunday, Philly will have 2 safeties playing 30 yards off the ball!...lol

And? Speed is nice but doing something after you run by someone is another thing. I think he is a little more about being a bigger fast player who can run crossing patterns. Go watch his drop against Seattle.

This is not the next Cliff Branch or something.
Stats say specimen, but he plays a little timid. Was more impressed with Mayle's highlights to tell the truth.
He just does not play strong if you know what I mean.

Exactly. Butler hasn't done a damn thing in the NFL but somehow he's worth more? Give me a break. He's a bottom of the roster barely makeing any team kind of player and Reggie got a pick for him. And if its a 5th round pick for our 6th and Butler that's a hell of a deal for us. We move up in the draft and get rid of a guy who cant help us anyway.

-----------------

i personally dont kno much about Butler. hopefully hes more than what some fans make of him

One needs to factor in where both teams may be drafting, why it may not be a given it could be a trade from the last pick (not including comp picks) in the 5th for the first pick in the 6th.

My only problem with this is that Romo doesn't have the arm strength to utilize a deep speed threat. I love Romo both as a player and his off field humanity but he doesn't have a rocket arm... lets be honest.

Arm strength is the most overrated aspect of an NFL QB. Romo can sling it as far as he needs to.
