Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo won’t have surgery on his fractured left clavicle and will miss about eight weeks, a source told PFT Monday.

The 2-0 Cowboys have their bye week in October, so the eight-week timetable gives Romo a chance to return for the team’s final six or seven games. The Cowboys play at the Dolphins on Nov. 22 and host the Panthers four days later on Thanksgiving, so those are the games circled for now as potential comeback dates.

No operation, sounds good to this layman.

That return, will set the Cowboys up for black 'n blue December, well.

All in all about what I expected.

Frankly I was nervous when they were doing a CT scan because maybe they thought there was potentially significant damage beyond just the bone break itself (ligaments, muscles, etc).

Sounds like surgery wasn't going to speed up the healing process, so they will just let it heal on it's own. Sounds like Romo is going on IR-designated to return list.

I'm still in denial also. Is profootballtalk a credible source?

Given the short turnaround between the Phins and Panthers game, I would think thanksgiving would be the earliest.

I agree - It would be unrealistic for him to play the dophins and then play again 4 days later after just coming back. The Panthers are a NFC oponent so that W is more important than the Phins.

What really sucks is I just received my tickets for the Seattle game. My kids are so down they will not be able to see Romo or Dez (possibly) play. :(

They'd pretty much always do something like that - x-rays are pretty limited compared to newer methods

PFT routinely breaks stories. They have developed a pretty impressive set of sources.

do they have Ian Rapaport working for them ?

I see they're "player ratings " for the games and i think they're a joke. But we'll see. Romo himself said yesterday "8 weeks".
