News: Cole: Cowboys trade for Cassel

With Moore going to the 53-man roster, this must mean it's poop or get off the pot time for Weeden. If he stinks it up against ATL and NO, then he is cut and Cassel takes over. Moore isn't going anywhere.

personally i wouldve preferred Terrelle Pryor, but I'm ok with the move to acquire Cassel My question is who backs up Weeden this week? Cassel or Moore?

This makes sense, and says the team really does think it can still contend. Not sure what people were expecting to get on the QB scrap heap this time of year, but we did our diligence: brought in a couple free agents, didn't like what we saw, so we gave a trivial amount to get the guy we liked best out there. We could do worse than playing Cassel as our third option once he knows the system. The fact that he played in MIN under Turner in 2014 might have been a factor, if there's overlap between his system and Garrett/Linehan's at this point.

Now that's a sensible outlook on the situation. It seems as though some people think we can get a bonafide starter in here as a backup. For all the complaining, I've yet to hear who the complainers think we should have gotten. I swear, we could get Aikman in his prime and some would ***** about it.

Matt Cassell is probably the best QB that's available and we went out and got him. I don't know who's better.

good move,Cassell can find the open guy and actually go through progressions.

He is a retread but better than Weeden. No way he starts this week and probably won't at all unless Weeden is a disaster.
