I agree. Dallas has little choice with Alt coming to town Sunday. Cassel is not going to be ready even in a backup role, Moore who has worked under Linehan should at least have a grasp of the offense. I see Moore as a developmental QB at this stage.
 
I don't think Flynn would have been a bad choice EXCEPT you've got a guy who has 2,500 yards passing in the NFL (Flynn) and a guy who's passed for over 15,000 in Cassel. The fact is Flynn doesn't have a lot of experience... he's less experienced than Weeden, who has twice the number of passing yards that Flynn does.

Did Green Bay trade for an expensive veteran like this when Rodgers broke his collar bone? No, they trusted their backup and their system.

What this states is that the organization isn't even sure of themselves and is willing to spend money to cover themselves.

Ultimately it seems "prudent" on the surface, but at the end of the day is just messy and clumsy.

GB also had a 3rd stringer they trusted. We obviously don't trust Moore. Shocker.

Cassel was released by the Bills just a couple weeks ago. The Bills resign him, then trade him to us for a pick. That's some silly stuff I'd pull in Madden. Sign a FA then trade him to some stupid computer team. Nice move, Buffalo.

Buffalo could end up ruing that one.

All they have at backup is Manuel and he's horrible. They've got a running QB starting who carries a great chance at being injured some time this season.
 
2008 is a lifetime ago in the NFL. So I wouldn't use his one year starting for the patriots as a sterling example. Since then he wasn't very good in Kansas City, or the last two years with other clubs.

With that being said, I am fine with the move. In all likelihood, dallas hopes will rest on if they made the right decision to stick with weeden for a second year. He has been in the system for a second year, should be comfortable with the offensive players and coaches. I don't think you are going to find someone off the street or available on another team who can play winning ball with a new team for a good solid stretch. This is worrisome to me as I am not a big fan of Weeden. Although, I will keep our fingers crossed.

cassel is insurance in case Weeden has a meltdown and has a disastrous 2-3 game stretch and a change is needed to be made to save season. I think cassell is a good of an option for this scenario. He at least has a lot of games started and has been in the league for awhile.

So I like the move. Although if he winds up starting this year than I think something has not gone right and the season is close to being in peril IMO.
 
Considering the injuries at QB this week, the Cowboys probably didnt want Moore to get poached onto someones 53.
 
Well hopefully we are up 31-10 in the 4th Qtr on Sunday so we can see Moore get some action.

If it's the other way around, then I won't be very happy.

That's not necessarily true.

When he was a full-time starter in KC in 2010 he threw for over 3,000 yards and had 27 TDs and only 7 picks for a QB rating of over 90.

He's hasn't been on any team of much talent since.
 
To be honest, without really knowing anything about it, I would just feel better knowing we didn't get our QB from Cleveland.
 
Cowboys worked out Flynn, Ponder a Josh Johnson. If they had liked what they saw from these guys Dallas would have signed one of them. The fact they didn't says it all. Regardless of how they did some where else

I am not sure how we are doing much different then what the Packers did when Rodgers broke his collar bone.

The Packers started their backup Wallace and we are starting ours Weeden, then the Packers checked into Flynn before bringing up their PS guy Scott Tolzien.

We brought up Moore from the PS. The only difference is we had a chance to get a more accomplished backup to Weeden in Cassel, because they don't feel Moore is ready to backup Weeden yet.

Seems clear this is more about Moores readiness then Weedens.

Not to mention Weeden is coming off of a recent concussion, they need a guy who can play now if Weeden goes down.

I can't imagine what would happen on this board if Weeden gets hurt and they are forced to play Moore and it came out they did not think he was ready and did nothing about it.

I would wager a 200 page thread,

I don't know what's going on with Manuel. Part of me thinks it has something to do with the changing of the guard over there, or his past performance, or his perception as a first round pick. They knew he was extremely green when they drafted him and yet they still felt disappointed when they fed him to the wolves his rookie year.

But he's a 3rd year player now, and he lit up the preseason this year and looked like a completely new guy. Also, his career QBR is similar to Cassel's and he did most of that work as a rookie.
 
I thought Matt Cassel was about 45 years old by now but surprisingly he is only 33 (two years younger than Romo). That's the only positive I could find.
