News: Cole: Cowboys trade for Cassel

Just an ugly look, you are right.

So much for all the glowing talk about Weeden being the right man for the job.

Weeden will be starting this weekend. Dallas is covering themselves by getting a vet QB. I think Moore could develop but this moves says more about Moore than Weeden

It says everything about Weeden that it was done before he even had a chance to look bad.

Cassel knows nothing about our system. Moore was in it for at least a camp or two.

Romo will be back. lol

So you absorb the salary with Cassel to do what? Provide expensive insurance since Weeden is really that good?

This whole move just makes little sense from a variety of perspectives.

Weeden is starting or would you like make an internet wager on this? Weeden has to produce but Dallas was not going throw Moore in there at this stage. I think they see him as developmental

You can't be that dense. You are paying a little under 1.8 million for a proven backup of your backup. If Weeden can't perform or is injured Cassel could be ready to roll in a week or two.

You don't get rid of your franchise QB unless you are completely stupid. I don't think the Cowboys are that stupid. Cassel contract is 2 million that is peanuts for any QB

Neither could Bradford or Davis. It's the Rams.

Just like with Jon Kitna, there's a reason he's been in this league since 2002 while never being a starter. He's a true backup. 4 years with the Vikings, 4 years with San Fran, 4 years with the Lions, and now back with the Vikings.

Matt Flynn started when Aaron Rodgers went down in 2013, and beat us along with playing well in every other game that season as well. His win against us and Atlanta gave Green Bay a shot to make playoffs when Rodgers came back against the Bears. Which is what you want out of a backup.

He also sucked everywhere else he has been...you say Cassel was a system qb...so was Flynn in gb

And not necessarily that Moore is lousy, it's just there's no one on the active roster who's ever attempted a pass in a real game (other than Weeden).

For a second string QB? It is a lot.
