Romo worshipers, don't bust an artery, but what if the Cowboys are 9-1?

Tom Brady was a damn good quarterback in waiting. Brady slipped through the cracks and was drafted way too low. He seized his opportunity and the rest is history. Some of his history is mired in questionable team activities but that's a story for The New England Defense League to fight another day.

Steve Young's road was rougher. He shined at BYU, so much so that the USFL made him star signing. Then the USFL folded and Young found himself in the NFL as a Buccaneers. Yep. The Buccaneers. Bill Walsh knew a thing or two about quarterbacks and trade for him. His opportunity rolled around and deja vu.

Perhaps Brady and Young were inserted into what if scenarios when their backup-turned-starter story came true. I can kinda see how those what ifs got batted around. The what if Weeden scenario? That scenario hungers for more supporting info. Shoot, it's starving.

Thoughtful post. Morrall was considered a decent backup and definitely not thought of in the same way as Weeden. He was an old vet with more than a few starts under his belt.

Plunckett had really done nothing and was considered a bust esp being the overall number one pick of the draft. He was never a great player just a good one at times. He is the only two time SB champion to NOT be in the HOF. A position for Eli IMO.

Young was considered a bust as well and even Bono was elevated over him on two occasions when Montana was out. Everyone saw the talent but it didn't work well for the team although he produced a 10-4 season once with no playoffs (off the top of my head).

No way Romo doesn't play when he is ready although it'd be nice to have a high seed sewed up and let him rest more.

Just imagine that the Cowboys are 9-1, perhaps even 10-0, by the time Tony Romo can get back on the field. Brandon Weeden is the top rated QB in the league, the Cowboys have the #1 offense and they are on a roll, an inevitable collision course with Super Bowl 5X.

Not going to happen so dream on!

If Romo comes back he is our QB, period.

If he gets hurt again who cares, according to your hypotehtical were are 9-1 anyways. Sounds like a good problem.

During Morrall's era playing for the 72 Dolphins who ran the ball most of the time with a 3 headed monster backfield made it easy for Miami to stay afloat during Griese's absence. Morrall never attempted more than 19 passes in the 12 games he started that season.

Some of you get it.....it's a great problem to have!

You start Romo if he's healthy enough, no question.

In the off season you trade Weeden for high picks. He's too old to be the future at QB.

You use the high picks to move up and get the QB of the future. He can back up Romo for a couple of years.
He could go 17-0 from this point forward and we wouldn't even get a 7th for him. You apparently don't know that Weeden's a free agent at the end of this year.

I'm obviously with the OP on this. I don't care who people think are top 5 QBs, yada yada yada, he's done nothing important IMO, I would go with the winner. I want wins not flash and dash. And ultimately, I want a SB. Romo fans don't care about the Cowboys or Super Bowls, they only care about Romo winning it, etc...

I'm a fan of Romo, team accomplishment however mean more than any 1 player. Be it Romo or Dez or any other player.

I have posted on several sites. I really don't know any "Room Worshipers" on this site but I always assume there is a handful.

To a Romo Worshiper, any criticism, even the smallest item and you are branded a hater. If you mention any negative play by Romo then you are a hater. If you don't believe that Tony Romo is the best qb in Cowboy history then you are a hater.

If you don't believe that Tony Romo would have a half dozen rings by now but has been handicapped by inferior teammates, incompetent coaches, and senile management then you are a hater.

If you don't believe that Tony Romo went undrafted for any reason other than the entire NFL was too stupid to recognize the epitome of QB perfection then you are a hater.

Any mention of Romo's skills dwindling with age now or in the future means you have an agenda which is to attack Romo without mercy. You have a seeping, irrational, all encompassing hatred of Tony Romo.

When the Cowboys win its because of Romo, when they lose its anybody but Romo. They are bigger Romo fans than they are Cowboy fans.

They are the ones that start threads like "who is better, Romo or Aikman"? They will claim that the Cowboys of the 90's would win 5 SB's if he'd been the starter.

There are Romo fans, I'm one. Then are those that are threatenedby any mention of another Cowboy qb playing well. If you complement any other Cowboy qb then they see right through your thinly disguised assault on their hero.

That's why I mentioned them. Otherwise this thread would quickly transform irseld into a tag team of verbal abuse.and personal insults.

Kind of like Romo haters don't care about Cowboys or Super bowls, they only care about Romo not winning it. It would mean they were wrong.:)

I don't get this whole thing, a person can be a big fan of Romo and a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. I agree we have some who will not place any blame on Romo for a bad play, we have those who seem more interested in Romo failing. For many of us we are Cowboys fans we are also fans of many of the players on this team, we pull for them to go out and produce to help this team win.

You bet I think highly of Romo and I hope he gets a ring along with 52 other teammates. I also hope to see Weeden come in and do a very good job to help this team win. To me the Cowboys winning is more important than any other fans personal agenda

Missed a wide open receiver, then threw the ball straight to the safety. Watch the damn play again, he didn't even go through his reads, he stared Witten down and threw it.

But let me guess, you were a fan of his in college?

No I wasn't, but I think it's comical how you are picking apart one game and acting like Weeden is the only quarterback to struggle against the Cardinals defense which is one of the best in the league.

I would take Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck, Ben Rothlisberger and Probably Cam Newton. Romo is getting older and his body is breaking down. I think either one of these qb's could come here and we would be Super Bowl contenders. I wouldn't take Brady just because I would hate to root for him.

Russell Wilson is a good quarterback, but let's be honest he's had an elite run game and a defense that has played at an all time great level other than the beginning of this season. I'm a fan of Andrew Luck, but he's not on Romo's level and even Colt fans would admit that. Rothlisberger has two Super Bowls because of a great defense. He had one of the worst Super Bowl performances of all time. Terrific quarterback yes, but if you're only putting him over Romo because of SB's when that's the same flawed logic for putting Eli over him. Newton? Lol dude has never been elite and with this style of play he's never gonna stay healthy consistently.

Just because we may like a player or just because we don't doesn't mean we're not Cowboys fans. I've criticized plenty of players over the years. But I've also said if they help us win the Super Bowl, I'd GLADLY eat crow.

For those of us who don't have a personal vendetta against a particular player, I think what I've said applies to all Cowboys fans.

As I've said before the :starspin: is bigger than the player.

Romo worshippers? At this point, it's only idiocy not to support, or hate on the guy.

Regardless, if the record is such, it will probably mean that the defense is a powerhouse more than Weeden has suddenly learned how to play. Romo has already led the team to 9-1 back in 2007.

Seriously. If there is anyone who isn't less confident with Weeden at the helm, I'd question their sanity.

I don't think it is even about the so called eating of crow. I'm a bit hard on Randle, fact is I was glad to see the Cowboys draft him and I want nothing more than him to have success. I try to be fair in my criticism of players and I have no problem giving any player his just dues when he does go out and preforms to help this team. If Romo throws a poor ball or makes a bad decision I have no problem saying so during the game when a player makes a mistake I expect them to shake it off and move forward not go into a shell afraid he may make another mistake. What I will not do that I see some do is use 1 game as some be all. CB misses a tackle and for the remainder of a guys career he can't tackle and will point to 1 instance. Same with Romo if he has a bad game or bad throw that game or throw is used as a constant attack against him.

I agree. I meant "eating crow" in the sense that if I say a person isn't good based on my observations, and if he corrects himself, I'm not going to try to excuse it because I don't want to be proven wrong.
