Still optimistic and what happend to C-Mike?

If you mean by personnel the OL, then maybe, but if you mean by personnel the RBBC, then I don't see it. Neither Randle, DMC or Dunbar are power backs. And we still don't know what we have in Christine.

I'm coming to reality that we won't have a good running game all season. My only hope is Christian Michael .

Watch it in slow motion. He hesitated and didn't get low and try to power through. There was a smaller guy to his right that he could have powered over but he ran into the bigger DL and gave up. Very disappointing. I had high hopes for this guy.

Wow, one play was enough for you to write him off. And a play where there were two defenders immediately in the backfield. Takes snap judgment and pessimism to a whole new level.

Jim brown in his prime could not have gained one yard on that play with that blocking and your obsession with Jeremy Parnell has reached restraining order territory

Man, this place after a loss. If he is bad this season then he will show about the same as the other guys and Dallas can draft a real RB, but I'm going to wait a little while longer, maybe two carries before I go over the top on this.

Did I say I was writing him off. I'm just disappointed that he needs perfect blocking to succeed. Randle or McFadden can get yards with perfect blocking.

I've posted that I'm hopeful that he can do something next week considering that Dunbar is out and Randle appears to be in trouble for jumping the pile after being told not to do it.

Running it is fine. Making it so freaking obvious exactly what is going to happen? That's just not smart. At some point you have to outsmart the other guys when you're not playing your best physically.

It's very clear the players haven't been playing as good as we thought they were. Maybe using brain power to compensate would be helpful? At what point do we at least TRY to out coach the other team?

We've been trying to out coach them the entire year. The fact that our fans consider every play that doesn't work a coaching error is not our coaches' fault.

It was 3rd and 1. You line up, and your big uglies push their big uglies. The one with the biggest uglies usually wins, unless your RB can make a play of his own. Sure, sometimes you use a bit of deception, but lining up and going for it is hardly unusual and it's not a failing on the part of our coaches. We just didn't win on that critical play.

Naw, JP gave me a small percentage of his new contract. Apparently, Jacksonvile's GM was reading CowboysZone and was impressed with my analysis of Parnell which caused him to end up signing him. Their GM called to thank me. He said "We are real football people that get paid millions and we think your analysis of this player was terrific". I had to turn down the job offer to come there as a scout because it would require me to take a pay cut.

One last thing, their GM said "Who are those morons that work for the Cowboys named Bryan Broaddus and Mickey Spagnasty?" Those guys claimed some guy named Weems would beat out Parnell back at the beginning of the 2014 preseason but look how wrong those guys were. Where in the heck did they ever come up with that idea. He said that Weems guy won't even be on the 53 man roster for long. I told him Broaddus had been an NFL scout and he laughed so hard that he had to have hernia surgery.

I think a better question for this thread title would be what happened to starter Joe Randle again? 11 carries for 26 yards and a critical defiant mistake at the goaline almost cost us 6 points. This is his 4th start of the year and 6th of his career. As a starter he's averaging 3.4 yards per carry as a change of pace back 6.7 yards per carry.

There's a saying ride your winners and cut your losers short. Randle as a starter looks like a losing proposition.

That is the big problem right there. Our coaches are stuck in that exact mentality. There are more ways to do things than just one. I have cringed for many years when we try to go big uglies vs. big uglies. Our tendencies are so extremely lopsided in certain situations and formations, that we make it very difficult for our big uglies. We give the plays very little margin for error. We don't put them team in the best position for success, we stack the odds against them and ask them to be perfect.

I'm still optimistic about this season.

Weeden was good enough to win this week.

The defense was the biggest problem, IMO. The good thing about that is that Hardy and RoMc will be back next week. I don't know that it will help much against the Patriots but if they had those 2 players, there is a good chance that the past 2 games would have been wins.

The Cowboys are getting gashed by the run and stopping the run is RoMc's top skill.

They also need more pass rush and Hardy has been one of the very best if not the best 4-3 DE in the league. They played Wilber at DE in the Saints game and Wilber, Wilson and Jack Crawford at DE in the Falcons game. Hardy would be a better DE than those guys even with no practice.

They play the Giants in the week after the bye. Gregory and Dez are expected back by then and Hardy/RoMc should be in fully integrated into the defense by then. They should have everybody healthy that week except Romo, Scandrick and Dunbar.

A win against the Giants and they could go on a roll. If they win the division games while Romo is out, they could stay in the hunt to win the division.

What happened to Christine Michael? There are short yardage backs and other specialty players that have to come in to the game "cold" so that's not an excuse. They just needed him to get a yard and he went backwards.

He only got 1 carry despite the fact that the coaches appeared to be irritated with Randle and started using McFadden more (11 carries for Randle, 10 for McFadden). McFadden appeared to be injured as he was more tentative in the 2nd half than he has been in previous games. It seemed the perfect time to see Michael but I guess the coaches just don't trust him.

Now that Dunbar is out and Randle has irritated the coaches, Michael really needs to step up next week; however, he had a big chance this week and failed miserably. I'm still optimistic but he needs to get serious in practice this week and get himself ready even if he has to come in "cold".

They were about even in time of possession against the Saints but to have a chance against the Patriots they need for win the TOP battle. The running game is the key to TOP. Basically the season is riding on C-Mike stepping up to the plate next week to protect the defense. If he does not step up next week they probably lose the game.

Weeden led us to OT, despite the loss he's avg 24 ppg running the offense. Once the defense settles would should come away with holding these leads. Good point bringing that up about Weeden.

Wilson impressed me despite that final play and Irving has me pumped up wanting to see more.

Overall I think we'll be fine. We can beat anyone including ourselves. I'll stay tuned.

You're still optimistic but then turn around and say the season rests on C-Mike? That a bad joke?

 I thought for sure you were being sarcastic for the first few comments about Michael in this thread. The guy had 1 carry, probably the most crucial of the game...it wasnt just his first carry of the game, but his first of the year to be making comments like the ones above. He had no business being in there for that after getting nothing prior to that.

If we throw on that play people are furious.

We run on that play and people are furious.

So when Randle fails it on him but when Michael fails it the fault of the blockers?

Maybe, just maybe the blocking is just not that good this year.

You're off your rocker today, or you don't pay attention much to what's said before and after games. Our old friend Ryan told us after the game, in case you weren't listening, that When JJ told the world that CMIKE was going to get the ball on extreme short yard situations that his defense knew exactly what to do. He was hit almost exactly when he got the ball. That was the dumbest play call we made all night. Proves how worthless our coaching really was!!!
