I don't have a problem with how we are working him in gradually. I just think it was so obvious that we were going to run the ball and it was such a crucial situation that we either needed to re-assess the situation and get him out of there if he can't pick up a blitzer or throw the ball.

YR

If your quality OL and your designated short yardage back can't get you a yard on 3rd and 1 in the third quarter, I'm not sure how much I second guess the coaches on it. It was a tough play to get the call on, but we need to get that yard, regardless.

The running game is struggling so much because
1) There is no Dez Bryant to stretch the field
2) Teams know there is no downfield threat, so they are free to clog up the running lanes
3) We miss Callahan more than expected. The O line is giving decent time for passing, but they do not look like the O-line of last year. Some of that could also be attributed to not having Murray and also to not having Dez to stretch the field though.

The OL has been severely overrated, this is what they really are... They can be really good at times, even dominant for stretches, but they were even inconsistent last season, as was the running game later in the season... Romo makes them look a little better than they are at times... Romo also made Murray look better than he was, because Murray doesn't rack up all those yards, if Romo doesn't keep the chains moving during those times when he was struggling to gain yards...

We just need to get Romo back... It helped to have a really good ground game, but when you have Romo, Dez, and Witten, you'll be fine, even with a mediocre running game. We can score enough points on offense, it's the defense that needs to be more consistent and maybe generate freakin' turnover.

It's 1 yard an he is a freak athlete power back. I don't understand why he would let us down like he did.

He is a Sparq superstar and can't even get 1 yard when the team desperately needed it.

They traded for him and used a valuable 53 man roster spot on him while he was learning the scheme. All he had to do to repay their loyalty was to get 1 stinking yard. I'm tried of all the excuses for players that don't perform. I thought the cupcake days were over. Does he even care about the team or is he just collecting a paycheck. Maybe his hips are just too stiff to make the simple move that he needed to make to get that yard.

lol, in this thread you are a snark superstar.

Watch it in slow motion. He hesitated and didn't get low and try to power through. There was a smaller guy to his right that he could have powered over but he ran into the bigger DL and gave up. Very disappointing. I had high hopes for this guy.
wait wait wait.....

You saying you had high hopes for Michael is like Baghdad Bob saying he had high hopes we wouldn't find any toys in the sand. I'm not even going to go into your aversion to Michael. I'm just floored that you actually tried to sneak in a "I had high hopes"... LMBO N1 dude

Nope. That's how it looked in real time, but try watching it in slow motion. He had options but made the wrong moves and didn't put his head down and try to power through despite the fact that he is a freak athlete power back.

Regardless, he was given one snap the whole game in the worst possible scenario any coach could put a RB in for their very first carry for a new team. Every casual fan knew who was going to get the ball. Weather full speed or slow mo he was met in the backfield on the one chance he was given.

im ok with it. I expect dallas to not give a player they need any time on the field, or to blanantly ignore the fact they will need someone. So whos shocked, oh only the peopel who see this over and over and over and over and over.

Calm down. It is clear that you don't like him but to get carried away over ONE carry is ridiculous. I am sure Randle would have avoided all the defenders and got the yard or maybe McFadden. Yeah right!!! :(

I thought for sure when they brought him in for that play it was just a decoy and going to be a play action fake or a dump off pass to get the first.

I was actually shocked they called that play.

And when I saw that play, the first thing that popped in my head was dreading the xwalker thread where he uses that one play as his prime example of how C Mike sucks...

I gave the guy a good review. I just didn't go overboard and exclaim him to be the great and I pointed out some of the concerns with him. Nevertheless, I gave him a good review and said I was hopeful that he would be successful.

I was excited to see him in the game but then extremely disappointed that he failed miserably. He needs to get his act together this week and take practice seriously. Dunbar is out and Randle is in trouble with the coaches for jumping the pile despite being told not to do it. McFadden looked like he might be injured.

C-Mike had a great opportunity to show what he can do and failed. If he had succeeded they would have given him more carries. The OL is having some issue and a freak athlete power back should be able to gain yards even without perfect blocking.

If he can step up next week the offense can win the time of possession and keep the defense off the field. If they lose it's probably because C-Mike didn't step up. It's the chance of a lifetime for him.

Recognizing there are issues with the consistency of the OL, it might be wise not to make exactly what is going to happen 100% obvious to the entire world. At least that's what I would expect of someone making sound coaching decisions.

Or maybe the blocking has been the problem and Randle has gotten as many or more yards than expected when considering the blocking problems.

I just hate the fact that we are running stretch plays , and outside zone runs. I think our personnel is best suited for straight ahead power runs.

Would you? I have no problem with running it on 3rd and 1 with our OL. Consistency problems and all. If you can't line up and get a yard with your short yardage offense and your 3 1st round picks, I don't see how you blame your coaches for it. At some point, your best players have to execute against a bad run defense or maybe they're not as good as you thought they were.

What happened to Christine Michael?
It was 1 play. And on that 1 play, I honestly don't think AP could have picked up an inch, let alone a yard. He was surrounded the moment he took the ball. That's just my take, though.

I personally don't view C Mike as a superstar...but I do think he has the potential to be better than anyone else the Cowboys currently have. Just my opinion, though...

Running it is fine. Making it so freaking obvious exactly what is going to happen? That's just not smart. At some point you have to outsmart the other guys when you're not playing your best physically.

It's very clear the players haven't been playing as good as we thought they were. Maybe using brain power to compensate would be helpful? At what point do we at least TRY to out coach the other team?

Since we are discussing one yard runs. What is your take on Randle's goal line carry where he scored a TD after twisting backwards and extending the ball in one hand? He is very lucky that wasn't a fumble IMO. Talk about a boneheaded play.

To be honest, I didn't specifically think of you; but I did dread the threads that would come in lambasting him for what he did and/or didn't do on a play that was doomed before the ball was even snapped.

If you mean by personnel the OL, then maybe, but if you mean by personnel the RBBC, then I don't see it. Neither Randle, DMC or Dunbar are power backs. And we still don't know what we have in Christine.
