Jerry Jones worried it might be too late to save Cowboys' season

Knowing he'd be without Dez Bryant and Tony Romo for an extended period of time, Jerry Jones projected in his mind how many wins the Cowboys would need until those two stars returned.

According to the Cowboys owner and general manager, they're currently one victory behind where he was hoping entering the bye week.

Jones shared his thought process Tuesday morning.

"Kind of with your fingers crossed, I had hoped that we could compete against Atlanta, and we did," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan's Shan and RJ show [KRLD-FM]. "We were very disappointed that we tailed-off near the end, but the way Atlanta is playing, we can see that we were up against some pretty good competition. The New Orleans game is and was a downer. It was an opportunity. We didn't get that one. That one, in my mind, needed to be there. Let's mark that up to real expectation and lost opportunity.

At least 4 more games without Romo.

2-7 would pretty much be game over.

3-6 would be barely a pulse. Too much would have to go right and happen too fast to think they go better than 5-2 after that.

If the idiot Giants had lost Sunday, things wouldn't be as dire... but they are...but it shows how beatable the Giants are despite their easier schedule. Thus, there's still hope.

I got lambasted for saying the season was over a few days ago. Now, the biggest homer of them all basically agrees. But hey, I've read that games this early aren't "must-wins" on this board. Smh.

With this team and Romo's luck he'd come back to a 2-7 team, go 6-1 and miss the playoffs in a win and you're in game.

I doubt anyone has said these aren't "must-wins" - but the crucial games are against the Giants and Eagles.

Jerry never said the season was over.

Who in the East really looks like they are taking charge of the division? Who really looks unbeatable?

I say we are very much in this...until we arent.

Probably. Though they're probably favorites in all but one of those games.

As of today with Romo and Dez they'd be favored against Miami, Carolina, @washington, NYJ, and Washington again. Definitely not against GB. @BUF is probably close.

The team lost Romo and Dez because of the idiotic offense. The team seems to finally have upgraded the defensive line, and they still can't fix the offense via scheming and have to rely on Romo to make plays.

New Orleans was a must win.

The PHI game is a must win
The TAM game is already a win
The NYG and SEA games are a wing and prayer game.
