Who to Root for? NYG/PHI

Simple: Eagles. If the Giants win they are gonna have control of the division at 4-2.
I'd like an Eagles win with Odell pulling a hammy ( out for 2-3 weeks) and Bradford gets a high ankle sprain from a sack out (4-6) weeks. That would be ideal. The injuries are not too serious.

Oh and FYI I know it's not politically correct to route/ wish for injuries on the opposing team, but I got to be honest. Everytime our Dline sacks a QB I yell " hurt that m*****fker" at the top of my lungs and pump my fist violently like 4-5 times while sitting by myself in front of the TV.

Screw being politically correct. I also hope the QB (especially brady & eli) just lie there, withering in pain. I'd laugh.

Hating the Eagles is "weird" or makes you "clueless?" Uh, okay.

Pretty sure I just indicated I'd be rooting for them to win because I know it's in our interests, but pardon me for pointing out that pulling for Philly isn't fun.

Nobody said hating the Eagles was weird.

Not being able to root for them to win....because you hate them.....despite the fact that it'd be good for the Cowboys is sitting down to pee weird.

Just ask yourself which situation you would prefer going into next week.

Giants 3-3, 1-2 Div.
Eagles 3-3, 1-2 Div.
Cowboys 2-3, 2-0 Div.
Commanders 2-4, 1-1 Div.

Or

Giants 4-2, 2-1 Div.
Cowboys 2-3, 2-0 Div.
Commanders 2-4, 1-1 Div.
Eagles 2-4, 0-3 Div.

go eagles

The eagles losing leaves us one team to contend with within the division. I'd much rather that then 2 teams. And I hate the eagles. Seeing the city of philly turn on chip kelly and push him back into college would make my entire month.

We have beaten both teams, so the best team to root for is the one with the worse record of the two, and that would be the Eagles.

eliminate a pest, the Eagles....take care of the Giants when its your time

Yes they are both in our division, so it's a divisional game... it matters. When we aren't playing in it, may the team with the best record lose. That's what's best us.

Well I know the game matters but who wins doesn't really right now. I think the Eagles ceiling is higher than that of the Giants.

Sure it matters. If you think the iggle's ceiling is higher then you are right to want to see them lose tonight. I don't know which team's ceiling is higher, I just know the gnats have the better record right now so I want them to lose.

So, it probably benefits us most immediately if the Eagles win. However, I believe two things:
1. They are legitimately the better team. They'll be a bigger competitor down the line than the Giants
2. Getting the Giants off a win is better than getting them on a must-win game off a loss.

If the Giants lose, they drop to 2-4. If they lose to us, 2-5. The game against us becomes 100% must-win. How much of a difference does it make? I don't know, but it's something to consider.

Go Giants! I don't want them coming into next week's game desperate.

And if the GIants win tonight and beat us next week with a recently signed backup quarterback making his first start for the team and a limited Dez, they would have a 2.5 game lead over us as well as a better conference record and divisional record. That means we would we need help from other teams to win the division. There's absolutely no logic or common sense in that thinking.

Why must the word root be inserted into these types of hypotheticals? What's wrong with asking, "Which of these scenarios would you prefer to happen?" Current divisional records lean me towards preferring the Eagles win but a New York/Philadelphia win, loss or tie does not guarantee anything for Dallas. Seems like wasted effort if my immediate desire isn't rewarded with a concrete positive result for Dallas.

Rooting? I can root for both teams to end up in West Hell. That's totally doable. Surprisingly, I'm rooting for that outcome right now. Rooting for any non-Cowboys team to win games is physically nauseating. Being emotionally invested in any game never affects the outcome unless you and your fellow fans are at the game collectively hollering your heads off and occasionally disrupting the concentration of the opposing team. Sometimes that's not enough no matter how passionate you feel (see #12 fans at yesterday's Panthers/Seahawks games)

I do wish I had telepathic powers though. I would've mentally compelled Terrell Owens to give himself a gooey facial in a dirty toilet years ago.

The great thing is its a win-win. Dallas just needs to handle their business next week to hold up their end of the deal. But I'm leaning towards Philly winning with a ton of injuries on both sides.

Most fans that can put their hatred aside for the Eagles should want to see the Eagles win... Eagles have the Panthers next weekend, then we face them.. This is pretty easy.. We could go to New York this weekend w/Hardy & Gregory putting Eli on the turf for a few turnovers & leave New York alone in 1st.. I'd much rather have this happen.

Exactly..I'm really not sure how this is an 8 page debate. And the Eagles have been my most hated team since the bounty bowl

Giants at 4-3 (2-2 in division) and Cowboys at 3-3 (3-0 in the division). I know the Giants would have one up in the W column but is this scenario not a virtual tie?

An Eagles loss does not remove them from the division race.

If you stayed at the Bed and Breakfast that I did this weekend (Butler House in Des Moines), I'd say it would be weird if you didn't sit down to pee.

Real hard because I loathe both franchises.

But, Eagles. Best in the long run if we want our faint hope of a division title.
