I know we are seeing Johnny Football queer his career in Cleveland and I know we are split about him coming here..

but I think he would be perfect as our backup and fit the timetable for Romo eventually leaving.

Hope it happens..

wait for it.....Manziel will be out of the league in two years....

Post like this make me realize just how boring this forum would be if everyone was like me.

One of the best young quarterbacks in the league. Has his issues with alcohol, but he's only 22.

Pass..

I believe in his talent but it's just too hard to Not be all in and be a NFL QB..

I don't think he is willing to obsess over this job.

He just needs someone.

Like Jerry.

Who understands him.

It is a functional alcoholic thing and not everyone will get it.

I know this is controversial..

and we have debated it ad nauseum..

but I think given certain conditions..

it would work.

He has maturity issues and he came out 2 years early from college..

so I expected all this with him.

But I think after the dust in Cleveland settles you will see them try to trade him before the upcoming draft..

and if his contract can be reworked to an incentive deal based on what the team needs as well..

it would be a good situation.

We can use his arm and mobility and frankly he's a Romo clone in his play style so little would change from the viewpoint of the offense.

I certainly saw him play at AM and he is very talented and his teammates liked him alot.

I hope it happens and I have to think Jerrah would take the chance if things broke right.

RGIII is also probably going to be available and I don't care for that option..

but that's another thread for another time.

You know, back in January of 2008 a whole bunch of Cowboys fans were mercilessly trashing Tony Romo for going to Cabo during an off-week before the playoffs. Witten was with him and got a pass, as did Bobby Carpenter, and only Tony got all of the heat. Well, Tony and Jessica Simpson. :) Still think that was silly. There wasn't any practice scheduled - the whole team was off. It took a lot of years for the Romo hate to turn to love, yet some of it still lingers, so strong even a 12-4 season couldn't get rid of it.

If Johnny Football develops into a winning QB, he'll get some love, but he'll never win over everyone. However, there will be local rueage on a massive scale if it happens someplace else when it could have happened here. We don't even have a real prospect in the house, and because Jerry announced Tony was going to help him find a QB before he leaves, we may not have one coming - probably just Cassel as a backup. Jerry has expressed interest in Manziel on several occasions, so the choice may very well be between him and no one. We need to choose wisely.

I'd sign him for the minimum, and use him for a few wrinkles each week. He screws up, cut him. No loss.

Jerra resisted the urge during the draft.
Will he resist agin when the Browns release this man child?
Someone tie Jerry up when Johhny LooseBall become available.

An article from ESPN-Dallas: "Getting Ahead of the Johnny Manziel to Cowboys Talk"

"The Cowboys will need to address their backup spot in 2016. Maybe they keep Cassel, believing a full offseason and training camp will help him should something happen to Romo again. Maybe they spend an early pick in the draft on a quarterback. Maybe they do both.

But Manziel wouldn’t be an answer. He would just be a distraction. Whether real or perceived, the Cowboys have enough of those already."

The Browns coach is an idiot. I understand what he wants to do but doing those types of motivational tactics publicly can be humiliating and counterproductive. Seems after two years of it not working he would try a different tactic.
