At the moment Dallas would pick 4th

You point out that few really want to hear.

What do you think the Cowboys will want to do if the phone rings when we are on the clock?

If we traded down instead of getting a QB this place might explode.

If someone gave for example the 15th, a 2017 and a 2018 for #5 you have to take it(lets say Goff is still available).

Then you draft BPA at 15 and take a guy like Hackenburg or Wentz at 37.

Then you still have the assets to move up in 2017 if needed.

But somehow we have to get Romo's replacement in the next 2 years.

I just feel like Connor Cook is a lock to be Matt Ryan at least, I'd take him top 5

Gabbert, Ponder, RG3, Geno, Manuel, Clausen, Locker, Manziel, Bradford, Barkley, Sanchez....

QBs in college are ill prepared for the NFL. I wouldn't waste first round picks on them.

Geno, Clausen and Barkley were NOT first round picks.

Plus a lot of those first rounder's bust because they are thrown to the wolves. That would not be the case here. 1st or 2nd rounder - its time ...

I'd gladly take Goff with the #4. Even if we end up with the top pick overall, I think I'm leaning towards Goff over Paxton at this point.

Not sure you've watched much California football this year. Goff has not been very good.

Weak qb class, looks like a weak draft overall, color me not excited to win the draft superbowl and root against them

So....we have a terrible team that cannot win without Romo, yet you actually see Jerry and Co drafting a blue chip QB at the top of the draft just to have him sit behind Romo throughout his first contract? Then we have to resign him before he actually is the Cowboys starter, and meanwhile, we enter next season the same way with the same team, no better on offense or defense with our top first rounder?

I'm not saying it's not wise to gamble on a QB next year (though a top 5 QB is a huge contract for a non-starter), but do you really see Jerry doing that over a sure thing at DL, DB, or WR?

Personally, unless there's a Luck or Winston on the board for us, I don't see us taking that gamble. I see a trade down for multiple first rounders, taking a top Safety or DL. Possibly taking a QB gamble on development in rounds 2 or 3, but you can't waste a rare top 5 pick on a QB to sit behind Tony unless he's a super blue-chipper.

There's that, and then there's the fact that not having a decent backup derailed our season. I think you pretty much have to begin to assume Romo is going to get hurt at some point during the season rather than the other way around.

He will probably go first then. Doesn't help if we are 4th or 5th

I was just responding to the guy who said it was a weak QB class. There may not be the first round guys, but the middle is good. Connor Cook, Nate Sudfeld, and Brandon Doughty could certainly walk in on any team and backup immediately and easily develop in to good starters. FYI DeShawn Watson is not an NFL QB though.

In all seriousness, I cant believe we are sitting here at Thanksgiving actually debating who we are going to select with the first pick overall.

12-4 to first overall pick......................wow......................what a difference a year makes.

My bad, I want him but don't want to get my hopes up for months.

I would like to sign a quality backup AND draft a potential replacement. We need to surround the problem and not ignore it again.

And I was suggesting we trade our 1st to move up and draft Gurley because our 1st would be in the 30s.

Garrett wanted Andy Dalton in these old round the year he came out....can't remember where this came from but the word was that JG wanted him but he was taken just ahead of us by the Bengals....

Maybe JG can evaluate QBs.
